Is DraftKings Sportsbook & Betting App Legit?

The short answer is: Yes! DraftKings started in 2012 as a daily fantasy sports operator and made the natural progression to sports betting as states began to legalize it. They are a fully licensed sportsbook in the United States, provided you live in one of the states listed above. It’s the most popular sportsbook in those regulated states in part because they were one of the first companies to enter the legalized market in the US. That said, with dozens of new competitors entering the industry, DK wouldn’t remain the most popular if they didn’t offer a great product and fast, secure transactions.  Both the DraftKings website and mobile app are legitimate choices for wagering on sports legally in the US.

How to Sign Up & Fund Your Account

The signup process is a little different in every state, but you can visit their site or download their iOS or Android app for more detailed instructions.

Funding Options

DraftKings makes it easy to make a deposit. Again, your options can vary by state, however, it is almost guaranteed that you have one or more options available.  Note that any deposits will appear as DRAFTKINGS on your statements and the name on your funding account must match the name used to sign up for your DraftKings account.

One of the best things about depositing and withdrawing from DraftKings is there are never any fees! The downside is we do wish they were accepting Bitcoin as a payment/withdrawal option. As of now, they are not. The good news is all of these funding methods are extremely secure and easy to use.

DraftKings Funding Options

Withdrawals

DraftKings keeps it simple with withdrawals. While it would be great to have faster options, sometimes traditional, familiar methods are the easiest. They’ll send you a check (7-14 days) or deposit the funds in your verified PayPal account (3-5 days).

DraftKings Promo Codes, Signup Bonuses & More

You will never short on options for some kind of promo, bonus, or odds boost at DraftKings. Your best bet is to check the site or app every day to see what options are available to you, but we do want to highlight what we feel sets DK apart from some of the other books.

Signup Bonus

DraftKings $1,000 Deposit Bonus
Get up to $1,000 on your first deposit at DraftKings. You’ll receive 20% in bonus site credit up to $1,000, meaning to max out on this bonus you’ll need to make an initial deposit of $5,000.  The good news is that you don’t have to max your deposit to still receive a bonus. The 20% applies your first deposit of $5 or more in a new account.

As with most bonus offers, it’s a good idea to read the full terms and conditions to make sure you qualify and that you know exactly what you are getting, how you can use it, and when you can withdrawal it before making a decision.

Loyalty Program & Bonus: DraftKings Crowns Explained

Bonus funds won’t stop flowing after you register an account. You can still claim a deposit bonus of 20% on your next deposit up to $500. This doesn’t require any special promo codes or hoops to jump through, just select the option to receive your 20% bonus at the cashier before making the deposit.

The Loyalty Program at DraftKings. Users earn “crowns” by making bets. Eventually, you can cash those crowns in to participate in contests or convert them to site credit (called “DK Dollars”) to use to place wagers. How much you earn on each bet depends on which tier level you fall in.

Daily heavy users may find the crown system to work in their favor, however, the amount you can expect to earn as a casual bettor is minimal.

DraftKings Odds Boosts & On-Going Bonuses

This site runs a ton of sport/event-specific promotions, so it pays to login daily and see what might be out there. One of the most popular promos is called an “Odds Boost” which typically gives you much better odds on a certain event or, sometimes, a bet that is almost guaranteed to win. The idea is to keep you active and betting as often as possible, however, savvy bettors like the ones that visit BoydsBets will soon find out that it’s simply an easy way to pad their bankroll a little.  You won’t be able to bet as much on the boosts as your regular bets, but there are many cases where the odds are so stacked in your favor it is well worth your time to take advantage.

Betting at DraftKings

No matter what you want to bet on, there is a good chance DraftKings has the odds available for you to bet.  There are some limitations on which teams and types of bets are available depending on your location, but we haven’t found this to be much of an issue at all in the vast majority of cases.

You’ll also find a wide variety of betting options in each sport/league, including several options for live/in-play betting!

Recommendation: Is DraftKings Right for You?

DraftKings is a great spot for most bettors to get down on some action with reasonable odds and some great promotions. If you bet between $5-$500 per game on a few games a week, there should be nothing stopping you from opening an account – assuming DK is available in your state, of course.

Where DraftKings falls a little short is for more serious bettors. Larger bets are sent for review and sometimes rejected or stakes lowered. In some cases, their traders will even move lines out of your favor if you have been winning and try to place a large bet.  This has, unfortunately, become commonplace as books try to limit their sharp clients from taking too much of their money.  That said, the vast majority of sports betting fans will find no problems betting what they want when they want and getting paid quickly in the process.
