Pittsburgh Steelers Schedule
Posted by Jimmy Boyd on
The Pittsburgh Steelers managed to go just 8-8 during the 2012 season. It landed them in 3rd place in the AFC North behind the Bengals and Ravens and out of the playoffs for just the second time in the last six years. The Steelers got off to a strong start with six wins in their first nine games, but would go just 2-5 down the stretch.
Looking ahead to the 2013 campaign, Pittsburgh has the 11th easiest strength of schedule out of the 32 teams. Their opponents last year went a combined 126-130 (49.6%). Aside from their six division games, the Steelers will face the NFC North and AFC East along with the Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans.
Overall I think the Steelers schedule sets up well for them. While they have a couple of difficult home games against the Bears and Ravens, I don’t think they have a great shot at going 7-1 or even 8-0 at Heinz Field this season. They have a few tough road games against Minnesota, New England and Green Bay outside of the division, but they also have very winnable road game against the Jets and Raiders.
The last four times the Steelers failed to make the playoffs, they came back the next season and won the AFC North. I like the chances of that trend continuing in 2013. I currently have Pittsburgh finishing up at 11-5. Here’s a complete look at their schedule along with my predictions on what the odds will be for each game.
Update – Cantor Gaming has released their odds for every game of the regular season. We’ve included that line, as well as the line we projected a few weeks before these were released. We’ve also added a column to show the likelihood that the team will win the game based on the odds given from Cantor. For some reason Cantor did not offer lines for any team for Week 17 of the season, so we used our line for the Week 17 calculations.
At the very bottom of the schedule you’ll see the expected win totals posted by both Cantor Gaming and Atlantis Casino, how many wins the odds project, and a recommendation based on those expected wins.
|WEEK||OPPONENT||BOYD’S SPREAD||CANTOR SPREAD||WIN CHANCE|
|CANTOR WIN TOTAL: 9.5||EXPECTED WINS:||9.20|
|ATLANTIS WIN TOTAL: 9.5||RECOMMENDATION:||No Play|
