Seahawks Dolphins Odds

Seattle is coming off a bye and you can pretty much say the same for Miami who hasn’t played since last Thursday. Seattle beat the Jets 28-7 in their last game and are looking for a 3rd straight victory. Miami lost on Thursday to the Bills 19-14 and have lost 3 straight after winning 3 straight. Miami looked like they were in for a good year, but now it looks like their just trying to keep their head above water. Seattle is looking to keep pace with the 49ers who just beat the Bears on Monday night to go to 7-2-1 on the season.
Reason why Seattle should cover this game:
Seattle has been great this year behind Russell Wilson and Marshawn Lynch. Seattle is 7-3 ATS this season, while Miami is just 4-6 ATS. The Seattle defense has been a big reason for their success allowing just 296.8 yards/game and 16.1 points/game. They are ranked 3rd in the NFL allowing just 196.2 yards/game through the air and 12th in the NFL allowing just 100.6 yards/game on the ground.
On the offensive side of the ball they are the worst team throwing the ball in the NFL averaging 174.8 yards/game. But they make up for that with a run game that ranks 6th in the NFL averaging 142.4 points/game.
Russell Wilson has been a savior in some games throwing last second touchdowns, but Marshawn Lynch has been the big part of the success. He has ran the ball 212 times for 1005 yards. Russell Wilson has thrown it 253 times, completed 157 of them for 1827 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Sidney Rice is the #1 WR in Seattle hauling in 34 balls for 475 yards and 6 touchdowns, but Golden Tate is making a name for himself after the big “touchdown” grab against the Packers. He has 26 catches for 334 yards and 6 touchdowns. Seattle is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win. Their also 9-21-1 ATS in their last 31 road games.
Reason why Miami should cover this game:
Miami has been one of the big surprises in the NFL this season behind rookie QB Ryan Tannehill. He is 179-308 for 2,120 yards but only has 6 touchdowns. Reggie Bush doesn’t have great yardage numbers, but he has done the damage when it needed to be done. Daniel Thomas has been a red-zone beast and recently has been taking a lot of carries away from Bush. Brian Hartline started the season off like the best WR in the NFL. Their has been a lot of slowing down for the Dolphins.
They started the season 1-3 then reeled off 3 wins only to lose their last 3 games. Miami doesn’t have the best offense as they rank 24th through the air at 209 yards/game and 21st on the ground averaging only 100.9 yards/game. Their defense on the other hand has been great against the run, 9th in the NFL allowing just 96.8 yards/game. When it comes to throwing against the Dolphins, you can have a lot of success. They rank 27th in the NFL against the pass allowing 266.3 yards/game.
Fortunately for the Dolphins, Seattle is a running team, but so far, nobody has been able to stop Lynch. Can Miami be the first one, who knows. Another great things to look at which is in the Dolphins favor is the fact that Seattle can’t win on the road. They are 5-0 at home and 1-4 on the road. Miami is only 2-2 at home and 1-2 ATS. Miami is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss and 9-2 ATS against a team with a winning record.
This game is going to come down to Russell Wilson being careful with the ball and Marshawn Lynch being in beast mode. Its also going to come down to can the Dolphins stop Marshawn Lynch. Can they generate turnovers. Reggie Bush and Daniel Thomas are going to have their work cut out for them, but for Miami to win they will need to have success. The Seahawks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 meetings, but the road team is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 meetings.
Right now the line is Miami +3 and the total is 37.5.
