49ers vs Falcons Game Odds & Betting Preview
The Falcons snapped a two game losing skid last weekend after crushing Carolina 40-20 at home to improve to 4-9 on the season overall. Atlanta scored 17 unanswered points in the third quarter and never looked back, cruising to an easy double-digit victory down the stretch. QB Matt Ryan played well, going 20/34 for 313 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air. RB Devonta Freeman led the way on the ground, rushing for 84 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 17 carries. Calvin Ridley also got in on the scoring parade, finding the end zone on one of his five receptions for 76 yards. Overall, the Falcons gained close to 500 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the blowout win.
Atlanta was fairly solid defensively against the Panthers, giving up just two touchdowns despite surrendering almost 400 total yards of offense. The Falcons were fantastic defending against the run, as no Carolina rusher managed to gain more than 53 total yards on the ground.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers avoided their first losing streak of the season last weekend, edging out New Orleans 48-46 in a fast-paced offensive thriller to improve to 11-2 overall. San Francisco had a 28-27 lead at the half and managed to hold on down the stretch, outscoring the Saints 20-19 over the final two quarters of the game. QB Jimmy Garoppolo was fantastic, going 26/35 for 349 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air. RB Raheem Mostert also played extremely well, racking up well over 100 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns. WR Emmanuel Sanders absolutely torched the Saints secondary, exploding for 157 receiving yards and a touchdown on a team-high seven catches. As a whole, the 49ers generated close to 550 total yards of offense and found the end zone six times in the victory.
San Francisco obviously had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against the Saints, getting lit up for almost 500 total yards of offense and six touchdowns. The 49ers had no answer for New Orleans QB Drew Brees, as he threw for 349 passing yards and five touchdowns.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Falcons +10
A case could easily be made for avoiding this matchup altogether, as both the total and spread currently look pretty efficient. If forced to pick a side against the spread, I’m leaning just slightly towards taking the boatload of points and rolling with a Falcons squad that is 3-2 outright over their last five games. Atlanta has also played quite well against winning teams over the past 5-6 weeks as well, staying within ten points of both the Seahawks and Saints while also beating New Orleans in early November. Of course, San Francisco has been extremely impressive through their first 13 games, losing just twice. However, the 49ers also only beat Washington, New Orleans, Arizona, and Pittsburgh by ten points or less – only one of which will likely make the post-season.

It is also important to note that Atlanta has absolutely dominated this AFC rivalry against the spread over the past couple of years, covering the number in two out of their last three battles against the 49ers. The Falcons are also a rock-solid 4-2 against the spread over their past six games overall and 9-2 ATS in their past eleven outings against opponents from the NFC West. On the other side, San Francisco has really struggled against the NFC South lately, going just 3-6 against the spread. I’ll roll the dice with the ten points and take a shot with the road underdog – give me Atlanta to cover.
