Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Air Force vs Wyoming

Wyoming snapped a two game losing slide last weekend, beating Colorado State 17-7 at home to improve to 7-4 on the season overall. The Cowboys scored seven unanswered points in the third quarter to take the lead and never looked back, completely shutting out the Rams offense over the final 30 minutes of the game. QB Tyler Vander Waal went 6/13 for 56 passing yards through the air while also adding a rushing touchdown as well. RB Xazavian Valladay was a monster on the ground, racking up 154 rushing yards on a team-high 27 carries. Austin Conway led the way for the receiving corps, making three catches for 35 yards. As a whole, Wyoming gained over 250 total yards of total offense and found the end zone twice in the victory.

The Cowboys had a solid outing on the other side of the ball against Colorado State, giving up just over 250 total yards of offense and only a single touchdown. Wyoming really did a great job defending against the run, allowing only 48 rushing yards the entire game.

Air Force has now won nine out of their first eleven games after crushing New Mexico 44-22 on the road last weekend to improve to 9-2 overall. The Falcons had a 14-10 lead at the half before really turning it on over the final two quarters of the game, outscoring the Lobos 30-12 down the stretch. QB Donald Hammond III was fantastic, going 9/10 for 327 yards and four touchdowns through the air. Hammond III also found the end zone on the ground, hitting pay dirt on one of his eleven carries for 41 rushing yards. RB Taven Birdow also chipped in, rumbling for 110 yards and a score on a team-high 17 carries. Benjamin Waters absolutely torched the Lobos secondary, exploding for 171 receiving yards and two touchdowns on four catches. Overall, Air Force generated almost 550 total yards of offense and scored six touchdowns in the blowout win.

The Falcons were fairly average defensively against New Mexico, surrendering over 350 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Air Force was especially impressive defending against the pass, limiting the Lobos to only 90 passing yards.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Wyoming +11

As tempted as I am by the OVER on 41 total points scored in this Mountain West showdown, both teams have been pretty solid on defense through the first 13 weeks of the season. The total in four out of Wyoming’s last five games hasn’t exceeded 37 points, so it’s pretty tough to really suggest there is a ton of value despite the number looking a bit too low. Therefore, I’d rather take the boatload of points in a matchup that could easily stay relatively close throughout. The Cowboys have also been the better team against the spread so far this year, going a very respectable 7-4 ATS through their first eleven outings.

It is also important to note that Wyoming has absolutely dominated the Falcons against the spread over the past decade or so, going a perfect 10-0 ATS over the last ten meetings between these two Mountain West rivals. The Cowboys are also a rock-solid 5-0 against the spread in their last five battles with Air Force at Falcon Stadium. On the other side, the Falcons have only averaged 22 points per game in their last three meetings with Wyoming – almost ten points fewer than the Cowboys per game. I’ll take a shot with the road underdog on Saturday afternoon in what could turn out to be a pretty close game.
