Taking a look at the Week 15 college football odds, Appalachian State opened as a 7-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has come down by half a point after early betting, as the Mountaineers are currently available at -6.5. The total for the game is sitting at 56 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: App State vs Louisiana
Louisiana won their sixth game in a row last weekend, edging out LA-Monroe 31-30 at home to finish the season at 10-2 overall. The Ragin’ Cajuns jumped out to a 21-14 lead in the first half and managed to hold on for the victory down the stretch despite getting outscored 16-10 over the final two quarters of the game. QB Levi Lewis went 15/23 for 270 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while RB Raymond Calais racked up 107 yards and a score on just eight carries on the ground. Ja’Marcus Bradley led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in our catches for 127 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Louisiana gained over 500 total yards of offense and found the end zone four times in the win.
The Ragin’ Cajuns defense didn’t have a great outing on the other side of the ball against LA-Monroe, surrendering over 550 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Louisiana had no answer for Warhawks WR Josh Pederson, allowing him to make six receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown.
Appalachian State only lost one game during the regular season, finishing the year 11-1 after crushing Troy 48-13 on the road last weekend. The Mountaineers had a 34-13 lead at the half before cruising to victory over the final 30 minutes of the game, completely shutting out the Trojans offense down the stretch. QB Zac Thomas played well, going 28/34 for 326 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air. RB Darrynton Evans led the way on the ground, rumbling for 82 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries. Thomas Hennigan also chipped in, recording a game-high eleven catches for 140 receiving yards. As a whole, Appalachian State generated well over 500 total yards of offense and scored seven touchdowns in the blow out victory.
The Mountaineers were pretty solid defensively against Troy, giving up just a single touchdown despite yielding over 350 total yards of offense. Appalachian State completely shut down the Trojans on the ground, holding them to just 51 rushing yards the entire game.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: App State -6.5
Now that the spread has come down below a full touchdown, I think that the Mountaineers offer pretty decent value in this Sun Belt Conference showdown. Appalachian State has really played well on both sides of the ball this year, losing just a single game during the regular season while also going a rock-solid 8-4 against the spread. Of course, Louisiana has also played well, going 9-3 against the spread through 12 games. However, there is no doubt that the Mountaineers were the better team when these two rivals met back in early October, as Appalachian State recorded an impressive 17-7 road win. With Louisiana being forced to play the rematch on the road on Saturday afternoon, I feel much more comfortable rolling with the home team that already has a double-digit victory against the Ragin’ Cajuns under their belt.

The Mountaineers have really played well at Kidd Brewer Stadium when playing Sun Belt Conference opponents as of late, covering the number in two out of their last three outings. Appalachian State is also a very impressive 10-0 straight up over their last ten games at home as well. On the other side, Louisiana is a brutal 0-7 outright in their last seven games against the Mountaineers. It is also important to point out that I’m almost certainly going to take a shot with the UNDER on 56 total points scored in this matchup as well, as the total has now gone UNDER in three consecutive meetings between these two schools and six out of their last seven clashes overall. Give me the UNDER on 56 total points scored and the Mountaineers to cover at home!
