The Miami Ohio RedHawks (7-4) travel to Muncie, Indiana on Friday for a Mid-American Conference clash with the Ball State Cardinals (4-7). Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST on November 29th at Scheumann Stadium and the game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.

Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, Ball State opened as a 2.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has increased by half a point after early betting, as the Cardinals are currently available at -3. The total for the game is sitting at 55 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Ball State vs Miami Ohio

Miami OH won their fifth straight game last week, beating Akron 20-17 at home to improve to 7-4 on the season overall. The RedHawks jumped out to an early 17-3 lead in the first half and managed to hang on for the victory over the final two quarters despite getting outscored by the Zips 14-3. QB Brett Gabbert wasn’t at his best, throwing two interceptions and going 10/21 for 117 passing yard. RB Jaylon Bester led the way on the ground, rushing for 128 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 21 carries. Jack Sorenson also chipped in, hauling in three receptions for 46 yards. Overall, Miami OH gained well over 350 total yards of offense and found the end zone twice in the win.

The RedHawks had a pretty solid outing on the other side of the ball against Akron, surrendering just over 200 total yards of offense and one touchdown. Miami OH was especially strong defending against the run, allowing only five net rushing yards the entire game.

Ball State has now lost four consecutive games after falling 41-38 on the road against Kent State to drop to 4-7 on the season overall. The Cardinals had a 24-21 lead at the half but couldn’t find a way to close out the win, giving up 20 points over the final two quarters of the game. QB Drew Plitt went 16/24 for 208 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding another score on the ground as well. RB Caleb Huntley absolutely torched the Golden Flashes defense, rushing for 192 yards and two touchdowns on a game-high 30 carries. Walter Fletcher also got in on the scoring parade, hitting pay dirt on one of his four catches for 74 yards. As a whole, Ball State generated almost 550 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.

The Cardinals didn’t play well defensively against Kent State, giving up well over 600 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. Ball State had no answer for Golden Flashes WR Isaiah McKoy, allowing him to rack up 159 receiving yards and three touchdowns on just six catches.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 55

While I also think that Miami Ohio offers at least a little bit of value against the spread in this particular spot, my favorite play from this Mid-American Conference showdown is the OVER on 55 total points scored. Ball State has really struggled on defense this season, giving up an average of well over 30 points per game. However, their offense has certainly picked up the slack, scoring at least 31 points in four out of their last five outings. On the other side, the RedHawks haven’t nearly been nearly as explosive offensively, averaging closer to 25 points per game. Even so, they have shown they are capable of putting up points in a hurry, scoring over 40 points on two separate occasions through their first eleven games.

It is also important to note that the total has now gone OVER in four out of Ball State’s last five games overall. The OVER has also come through in six out of their last seven outings at home as well. These two MAC rivals were also involved in a high-scoring battle when they met last year, combining for 63 total points in a game with a 55.5 point total. Despite not minding the RedHawks against the spread here in Week 14, I’m going to take a shot with the OVER on 55 total points scored on Friday afternoon.
