Bears vs Chargers Game Odds & Betting Preview
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers have now lost five out of their last six games after falling 23-20 on the road in Tennessee last weekend. Los Angeles hung tough all afternoon but couldn’t close out the Titans down the stretch, getting outscored 13-10 in the fourth quarter en route to a three-point defeat. QB Phillip Rivers played pretty well, going 24/38 for 329 yards and two touchdowns through the air. None of the running backs could get anything going out of the backfield against a very tough Tennessee run defense, as Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler combined for only 39 yards on the ground. However, Ekeler did lead the way for the receiving corps, hauling in seven catches for 118 yards and a score. Overall, the Chargers gained just under 400 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
Los Angeles was average at best defensively against the Titans, giving up three touchdowns and just over 400 total yards of offense. The Chargers had a tough time slowing down Tennessee WR Corey Davis, as he made six catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.
The Bears lost their second consecutive game last weekend after dropping a 36-25 decision at home against New Orleans. Chicago gave up 14 unanswered points in the third quarter and never recovered, losing by double-digits and falling back to .500 overall through six games. QB Mitch Trubisky went 34/54 for 251 yards and two touchdowns through the air but the Bears running attack was almost non-existent, gaining just 17 net rushing yards on the ground. Allen Robinson led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in ten catches for 87 yards and a touchdown. As a whole, the offense generated well under 300 total yards and scored only two touchdowns in a double-digit defeat.
Chicago had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball in Week 7, allowing the Saints to rack up over 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Bears had no answer for RB Latavius Murray on the ground, as he torched the defense for 119 yards and two touchdowns on a game-high 27 carries.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Bears -4
I’m really not seeing a ton of value with either side in this matchup, as both teams have not been playing well at all over the last several weeks. I guess I have a bit more faith in Chicago to take care of business at home here in Week 8, as the Bears are a rock-solid 4-1 straight up in their last five meetings with L.A. at Soldier Field. Los Angeles has had almost no success against the spread in the last six meetings between these two teams either, going a brutal 1-5 ATS over that time span. The Chargers have also really struggled against the spread so far this year, going just 1-5-1 ATS over their first seven games.

While I am slightly tempted by the UNDER on 41 total points scored as well, I’m not as confident in the Bears play on defense as I was back in September. Chicago has now given up at least 24 points in two consecutive games, so it will be interesting to see how they respond on Sunday afternoon against a Chargers offense that has scored at least 20 points in four out of their last five outings. Both the total and the spread look pretty efficient to me, but I’d rather take a shot with slight home favorite after they got embarrassed just a week ago by New Orleans. I’ll lay the four points and roll with the Bears at home – give me Chicago to cover!
