The #2 overall Clemson Tigers (9-0) travel to Chestnut Hill this weekend to take on the #17 overall Boston College Eagles (7-2) in an important ACC showdown. Kickoff is set for 9:00 PM EST at Alumni Stadium and the game will be broadcast on ABC.
Taking a look at the Week 11 college football odds, Clemson opened as a 17.5-point road favorite earlier this week. That line has changed only slightly after early betting, as the Tigers are currently listed at -18. The total for the game is sitting at 60.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Boston College vs Clemson
Clemson stayed perfect last weekend after a ridiculously lopsided 77-16 victory over Louisville. The Tigers were dominant on both sides of the ball against the Cardinals, racking up 661 yards of total offense while giving up just 331. Freshman QB Trevor Lawrence has been fantastic so far this season, throwing for 1,549 yards and and 18 touchdowns. Lawrence has received a ton of support from sophomore RB Travis Etienne, who has rushed for 998 yards and gone over the 100 yard mark in five out his last seven games. Clemson is really firing on all cylinders right now, as they have scored 59+ points in three out of their last four games. Overall, the offense is currently averaging 47.8 points per game (4th overall) on 538.0 total yards of offense (7th overall).
Things have been almost as impressive on the other side of the ball for Clemson, as they are limiting opponents to just 13.3 points per game (4th overall) on 269.2 total yards of offense (3rd overall). The Tigers have been exceptional against the run, giving up just 90.4 yards per game on the ground (6th overall).
Boston College won their third straight game last weekend, beating Virginia Tech 31-21 on the road to improve to 7-2 overall. QB Anthony Brown played fairly well, passing for 177 yards and a touchdown. Brown has really been accurate with his throws over the last several games, as he has been picked off just once over his last five starts. Star RB AJ Dillon is currently listed as questionable for Saturday due to a lingering ankle injury. He has been a monster on the ground over the past several games, racking up 245 rushing yards. If the Eagles have any shot of staying competitive against Clemson, they certainly need Dillon to start and perform well. He is the key player for a Boston College offense that is currently averaging 37.2 points (23rd overall) and 225.6 rushing yards per game (23rd overall).
While the Eagles have been in the Top 25 teams nationwide in many offensive categories all year long, things have looked a bit more average on the other side side of the ball. Boston College is currently allowing opponents to score an average of 24.1 points per game (47th overall). They have performed fairly similar against both the pass and the run, giving up 221.8 yards per game through the air (56th overall) and 151.8 yards per game on the ground (55th overall).
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Clemson -18
Boston College has really been enjoying a nice season up until this point – they have already locked up an appearance in a bowl game and have looked good in victories over Virginia Tech, Miami, and Temple. However, Clemson is in a completely different stratosphere on both sides of the ball. The Eagles only managed to beat Louisville by 18 points, while the Tigers demolished them by over 60 (yes, 60) points. The Tigers are currently ranked inside of the top five teams in the entire country in terms of both scoring offense and defense. Boston College has an average defense and an offense that is dealing with an injury to their best player. Even if Dillon is able to suit up on Saturday night, I’m not so sure he will be enough to keep the Eagles within three touchdowns of a Clemson team that looks unstoppable right now.

Both of these teams have performed quite well against the spread as of late. Clemson is a very impressive 5-1 ATS in their last six games overall. They are also 4-1 ATS over their last five road games. The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall and 4-1 ATS over their last five games at home. They have also performed quite well against the Tigers recently, going 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings.
Boston College hasn’t looked all that impressive moving the ball through the air so far this season, as they rely quite heavily on their ground attack. The Tigers are holding opponents to less than 100 rushing yards per game, which certainly doesn’t bode well for the Eagles in this particular spot. They may be able to keep things close for a couple of quarters, but Clemson has the firepower to put this game out of reach in the second half. I’m laying the 18 points and rolling with the road favorite on Saturday – give me the Tigers.
