Taking a look at the Week 10 college football odds, Bowling Green opened as a 6.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has come down by half a point after early betting, as the Falcons are currently available at -6. The total for the game is sitting at 49 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Bowling Green vs Akron
Akron is still in search of their first win of the season after getting crushed 49-0 on the road by Northern Illinois last weekend. The Zips gave up 21 unanswered points in the first half and never recovered, getting completely shut out the rest of the way en route to their eighth straight loss. None of the three quarterbacks who saw game-action in Week 9 could find any success, combining for just 51 total passing yards. RB Brandon Lee turned in a decent performance, leading the way on the ground with 76 rushing yards and averaging over 7.5 yards per carry on ten totes. Julian Hicks was the only receiver who made more than a single reception, as he made three catches for 22 yards. Overall, Akron barely gained more than 150 total yards of offense and failed to score even a single point in the embarrassing loss.
The Zips also had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against Northern Illinois, surrendering almost 400 total yards of offense and allowing five touchdowns. Akron had no answer for Huskies RB Tre Harbison, as he torched the defense for 158 yards and two touchdowns on 31 carries.
Bowling Green lost their second straight game last weekend, falling 49-10 on the road against Western Michigan to drop to just 2-6 on the season overall. The Falcons jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but then gave up three touchdowns in the second quarter and never recovered, scoring just a single touchdown the rest of the way en route to a 39-point loss. QB Grant Loy wasn’t at his best, going 18/26 for 136 passing yards and getting picked off twice. However, Loy did lead the way on the ground with 62 rushing yards on 11 carries. RB Bryson Denley scored the only touchdown of the game for the offense, finding the end zone on one of his eight carries for 48 yards. As a whole, Bowling Green generated over 250 total yards of offense.
The Falcons were terrible defensively against Western Michigan, giving up almost 600 total yards of offense and seven touchdowns. Bowling Green got absolutely torched on the ground by Broncos RB LeVante Bellamy, as he rumbled for 178 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 17 carries.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Bowling Green -6
I think that the Falcons offer pretty decent value in this particular spot, especially after the spread came down half a point. While both teams have been absolutely horrendous so far this season, Bowling Green has at least won a couple of games unlike the win-less Zips. Akron has also scored just three total points over their last three games combined, as they head into this Week 10 battle after getting shutout in back to back outings. The Falcons defense has also been terrible over their last two games, surrendering almost 90 total points. However, they did manage to hold Toledo to just a single touchdown in early October in a 20-7 home victory.

Neither side has performed well against the spread so far this season, as Akron is a horrific 0-8 ATS in their first eight games while Bowling Green is just 2-6 ATS over that same time span. What really attracts me to the Falcons on Saturday afternoon is how well they have fared against the spread when facing the Zips in recent years, cover the number in nine out of their last ten meetings. They are also a rock-solid 4-1 ATS over their last five battles with Akron at home as well. I’ll lay the six points and roll with the home favorite in a clash between two basement-dwellers in the MAC East.
