Broncos vs Lions Game Odds & Betting Preview
The Lions couldn’t find a way to get past Tampa Bay on the road their last time out, falling 38-17 at home to drop to just 3-10-1 on the season overall. Detroit gave up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never recovered, losing by double-digits after scoring just a single field goal over the first 30 minutes of the game. QB David Blough went 24/43 for 260 passing yards while also throwing two interceptions as well. Wes Hills led the way on the ground, finding the end zone twice despite rushing for only 21 yards. Danny Amendola also chipped in, racking up 102 receiving yards on a team-high eight catches. As a whole, the Lions generated just over 300 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the defeat.
Detroit was brutal defensively against the Buccaneers, getting lit up for over 500 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Lions had no answer for Tampa Bay WR Breshad Perriman, allowing him to make five catches for 113 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
The Broncos saw their modest two game winning streak come to an end last weekend after losing 23-3 on the road against Kansas City. Denver fell behind 15-3 in the first half and couldn’t find a way to pull off a comeback, getting completely shut out over the final two quarters of the game. QB Drew Lock had his first below average start in the NFL, going just 18/40 for 208 passing yards and getting picked off once. Phillip Lindsay couldn’t find much room on the ground, rushing for just 32 yards. Courtland Sutton led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in four catches for 79 yards. Overall, the Broncos gained over 250 total yards of offense but failed to find the end zone against their AFC West rivals.
Denver had a mediocre outing on the other side of the ball against the Chiefs, surrendering over 400 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The Broncos couldn’t find a way to slow down the receiving duo of Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill, as the pair combined for 209 yards and two touchdowns.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Broncos -7
I’m leaning slightly towards laying the touchdown and rolling with Denver in this particular spot, although a case could probably be made for avoiding both teams against the spread on Sunday afternoon. There certainly doesn’t appear to be a ton of value on either side, as the number looks pretty efficient after increasing by half a point after early betting. Even so, I’d much rather take my chances with the Broncos at home than roll the dice with a Detroit offense that has only scored 24 points over their last two outings combined.

Drew Lock has now won two out of his first three starts in his rookie season, which leaves me feeling pretty optimistic about his chances of a rebound performance here in Week 16 after a rough outing in the snow against Kansas City last weekend. It is also worth noting that Denver has covered the number in four out of their last six home games, while the Lions are just 2-5 against the spread over their last seven games away from Ford Field. The Broncos are also a very impressive 5-2 against the spread in their last seven outings overall. Finally, Detroit is a brutal 1-8 ATS over their last nine games, which certainly doesn’t bode well for them in this matchup against an above average Denver defense. I’ll lay the touchdown and take a shot with the home favorite – give me the Broncos to cover!
