The Arizona Cardinals will look to get back on track this week when they host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Game time is set for 4:05 EST on Sunday, October 15 at U of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Fans can watch the game on Fox in local markets.
This game opened as a PK, but heavy betting in favor of the Bucs has made them a 2-point favorite on the road. The over/under for the game is 44.5 points. Click here for a full list of the Week 6 betting odds and links to more game previews.
Buccaneers vs Cardinals Vegas Point Spread Preview
The Cardinals enter Week 6 at 2-3, just one game off the pace in the NFC West. However, their two wins this year are against two of the worst teams in the NFL, and they are coming off an abysmal effort last week, losing 34-7 to the Eagles.
Fortunately, help is on the way. Arizona traded for Adrian Peterson earlier in the week, a move they hope will help improve what has been the worst rushing attack in the NFL this season.
Meanwhile, the Bucs are still trying to find some consistency, entering Week 6 at 2-2 following a close loss to the Patriots last week. Much like Arizona, the Bucs have struggled to run the ball this season, putting a lot of pressure on their quarterback. Jameis Winston has responded well, but he’s going to need more help around him if he’s going to take Tampa Bay to the next level.
Free Line Pick & Betting Predictions: Over
I’m not sure I trust either one of these teams in a game that’s essentially a PK. However, I think both of these teams are just bad enough defensively to take the over on total points.
Arizona’s offense has struggled to get it going this year. But they’ve been a little better at moving the ball while at home. I can also see Peterson being motivated to make an immediate impact and excited to get some touches. That should give the Cardinals a lift and keep some of the pressure off Carson Palmer. Palmer has been sacked 19 times in five games, which is way too much. But when given time, he can still move the ball down the field.

The Tampa Bay defense may also be a little vulnerable. In their only road game of the season, the Bucs gave up 34 points and nearly 500 yards of offense to the Case Keenun led Vikings. To be fair, the Bucs held the Patriots to just 19 points last week. But Tom Brady still threw for over 300 yards, as Keenun did against them earlier this year.
On the other side of the ball, I’m not worried about Winston and the Bucs moving the ball and scoring points against Arizona’s defense. If you take away games against the Colts and 49ers, the Cardinals are giving up 32 points per game. Even with the Bucs only having a modest running game, Winston and his receivers should be able to do some damage against the Arizona defense.
If I had to pick a winner against the spread, I’d take the Bucs to win on the road. But I’m more confident that both offenses will be able to exceed 20 points and top 46.5 points. Even a score of 27-20 will be enough to win on the over, which I believe is the smartest play in this game.
