Buccaneers vs Redskins Vegas Odds & Game Preview
Washington didn’t look good last weekend, losing 38-14 at home to Atlanta to drop back to 5-3 on the season overall. The Redskins did have a three game winning streak heading into a tough matchup with the Falcons, so it will be very interesting to see how they rebound here in Week 10. QB Alex Smith played fairly well, throwing for over 300 yards while also adding a touchdown in a losing effort. Smith has now passed for 1,867 yards and nine touchdowns in eight games. RB Adrian Peterson didn’t have his best performance against a mediocre Falcons run defense, but he has played quite well this year. Peterson has rushed for 604 rushing yards so far, including 97+ yards in three out of his last four games. Things have been a bit of a struggle on offense as of late, as they have been held to 20 or fewer points in three consecutive games. As a whole, Washington is currently averaging 20.0 points per game (25th overall) on 343.9 total yards of offense.
Things have looked pretty solid on the other side of the ball for the Redskins, as they are holding opponents to just 21.5 points per game (7th overall) on 343.5 total yards of offense. They have really done a great job against the run, as they are currently giving up only 89.4 yards per game on the ground (5th overall).
Tampa Bay lost 48-28 against Carolina last weekend to drop two games below .500 on the season overall. The Bucs fell way behind in the first half, trailing 35-14 at the end of the second quarter. They did manage to outscore the Panthers in the second half, but it still wasn’t enough. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick had an up and down game, throwing for 240 yards and four touchdowns but getting picked off twice. Fitzpatrick has now passed for 1,793 yards and 17 touchdowns in six games. RB Peyton Barber leads the way on the ground, although he has rushed for only 376 yards so far this year. WR Mike Evans lead the way for the receiving corps, although he was limited to just one reception by the Carolina defense. Overall, the offense is currently averaging 28.6 points per game (8th overall) on 446.8 yards of total offense.
The Buccaneers have been absolutely atrocious defensively, as they are currently giving up a ridiculous 34.4 points per game (32nd overall) on 414.3 yards of total offense. That number is a full field goal higher per game than the next lowest-ranked team defensively. Tampa Bay has really been burned through the air, allowing 307.1 passing yards per game (30th overall).
Free NFL Betting Prediction: Washington +3
Fitzmagic has been a great story so far for the Bucs this season, as he really has done a lot during his starts offensively. Unfortunately, Tampa Bay still has relatively no ground game or defense to speak of at all. They fired their defensive coordinator several weeks ago, but nothing has really had a lasting impact or caused an improvement overall. Washington had been on a roll before a tough loss against the Falcons last week, but they have been the better team overall this season – by far – and should win this game straight up. The fact that they are getting a field goal in this particular spot is just a bonus.

The Redskins are a very solid 4-0 ATS over their last four games following a loss. They are also 5-2 ATS in their last seven games against teams from the NFC. Tampa Bay is a brutal 1-5 ATS in their last six games overall. They are also 0-4 ATS over their last four games following a loss.
It is also worth noting that the underdog is an impressive 4-0-1 ATS in the last five meetings between these two teams. Additionally, the road team is 4-0-1 ATS over the last five games between these two NFC rivals as well. I fully expect those trends to continue on Sunday afternoon, as Washington has won three out of their last four games while Tampa Bay has lost five out of their last six. I’m glad to take the free field goal in this matchup – give me the Redskins.
