Bucs vs Panthers Game Odds & Betting Preview

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers have now won three straight games after a rough 0-2 start to the season, beating Jacksonville 34-27 at home last weekend to get back above the .500 mark. Carolina held a slim 17-14 lead at the half and managed to hold on late, outscoring the Jags 13-10 over the final two quarters. QB Kyle Allen went 17/30 for 181 yards and a touchdown while RB Christian McCaffrey exploded for 176 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground. McCaffrey also had a monster game catching passes out of the backfield, hauling in six receptions for 61 yards and another score. As a whole, the Panthers racked up well over 450 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the victory.

Carolina didn’t have the best outing defensively in Week 5, giving up over 400 total yards and allowing three touchdowns to the Jacksonville offense. The Panthers really had a tough time trying to slow down rookie wideout DJ Chark, who made eight receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers dropped back below .500 on the season last weekend, falling 31-24 on the road in New Orleans. Tampa Bay trailed by just four points at the end of the second quarter but couldn’t pull off a comeback down the stretch en route to their third loss in four games. QB Jameis Winston was pretty average, going 15/27 for 204 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Peyton Barber found the end zone on the ground, while Chris Godwin had his second straight huge game, hauling in seven receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, the Buccaneers generated over 300 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns.

Tampa Bay didn’t have a great showing on the other side of the ball against the Saints, giving up 31 points and well over 400 total yards of offense. The Bucs struggled badly trying to contain WR Michael Thomas, who torched the secondary for 182 receiving yards and two touchdowns on a game-high 11 catches.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: OVER 47

This spread currently looks pretty efficient to me, as this game could easily go either way and I don’t really feel a strong lean towards either team. The Buccaneers came out on top when these two NFC South rivals met back in Week 2, grinding out a 21-14 road victory against an injured Cam Newton. The Panthers offense has really come alive with Kyle Allen under center, scoring 34+ points in two out of their last three games. Tampa Bay has also really been clicking offensively,  scoring 110 total points over their last three outings combined. I think the OVER on 47 total points is probably the value in this particular spot, especially since the Panthers and their opponents have combined for at least 58 total points in two out of their last three games, while the Bucs haven’t had a game total go under 55 points since these two teams met back in early September.

The total has also gone OVER in four out of Tampa Bay’s last six games overall. It has also gone OVER in six out of their last nine meetings with an NFC south opponent. On the other side, the OVER has hit in four out of Carolina’s last six games as well. I’m going to avoid both teams against the spread and instead roll with the OVER on 47 total points scored in what should be a high-scoring, entertaining divisional matchup that remains close throughout.
