Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Central Michigan vs Miami OH

Miami Ohio saw their five game winning streak come to an end last weekend, falling 41-27 on the road against Ball State to drop to 7-5 on the season overall. The RedHawks had a 27-14 lead at the half but completely collapsed over the final two quarters, getting outscored 27-0 down the stretch. QB Brett Gabbert went 6/8 for 116 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while RB Jaylon Bester led the way on the ground with 59 rushing yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. Jack Sorenson also chipped in, making four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Miami Ohio generated over 250 yards of offense and found the end zone twice in the loss.

The RedHawks defense had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against Ball State, giving up almost 600 total yards of offense and six touchdowns. Miami Ohio had no answer for Cardinals RB Caleb Huntley on the ground, as he torched the defense for 134 rushing yards and three touchdowns.

Central Michigan has now won three consecutive games after crushing Toledo 49-7 at home last weekend to finish the regular season 8-4 overall. The Chippewas scored five touchdowns in the first half and never looked back, completely shutting out the Rockets offense over the final two quarters of the game. QB Quinten Dormady went 15/19 for 250 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while RB Kobe Lewis racked up 131 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Tyrone Scott and Tony Poljan also got in on the scoring parade, combining for 105 receiving yards and two touchdowns. As a whole, Central Michigan gained almost 550 total yards of offense and scored seven touchdowns in the blowout victory.

The Chippewas were very solid defensively against Toledo, surrendering around 250 total yards of offense and just a single touchdown. Central Michigan was especially solid defending against the pass, giving up well under 200 yards through the air.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Central Michigan -7

I’m leaning slightly towards the Chippewas at home in this MAC clash, as I think Central Michigan will find a way to get the job done against a RedHawks squad that has been pretty average against the spread. Miami Ohio only went 6-6 ATS during the regular season, while the Chippewas went a scorching-hot 9-2-1 against the spread over that same time span. Their offense has really been firing on all cylinders as of late too, putting up at least 38 points in six out of their last seven outings. Miami Ohio hasn’t really found that same level of consistency offensively, getting held to 27 points or less in six out of their last seven overall.

The RedHawks have really struggled against the spread on the road this year, failing to cover the number in four out of their last six outings away from Yager Stadium. Miami Ohio is also just 1-2 against the spread over their last three conference games on the road as well. On the other side, Central Michigan was a perfect 5-0 against the spread at home during the regular season. I’ll lay the touchdown and take a shot with the home favorite on Saturday afternoon – give me the Chippewas to cover!
