Chargers vs Patriots Vegas Game Odds & Betting Predictions

Los Angeles improved to 3-4 on the season after an impressive shutout victory over the Denver Broncos last weekend. It was the Chargers first win at home since relocating from San Diego. Los Angeles played extremely tough defensively all game, limiting the Broncos to just 251 total yards. They also registered five sacks while limiting the Broncos to less than 75 rushing yards. QB Phillip Rivers passed for two touchdowns and WR Travis Benjamin had an electrifying 65 yard punt return for a touchdown in the 1st quarter. The Chargers are currently ranked 17th overall in total offense but an impressive 8th overall in passing yards per game (251.3 average). Defensively, Los Angeles has looked consistently strong all year, ranking an impressive 5th overall against the pass and 13th in total defense.

The Patriots won their third game in a row last Sunday night with a statement win over the Atlanta Falcons in a heavily-hyped rematch of Super Bowl LI. The game will most likely be remembered for the heavy fog that blanketed much of the stadium for the entire second half. QB Tom Brady passed for just under 250 yards while adding two touchdowns through the air as well. It was RB Dion Lewis’s turn to lead the way on the ground for the Patriots, as he out-performed both James White and Mike Gillislee to register 76 yards on 13 carries. Overall, New England has looked fantastic on offense – they currently lead the league with 410.7 total yards per game while ranking 2nd overall in passing yards per game (300.0). However, as good as they have been offensively, they have been absolutely dreadful on the other side of the ball. The Patriots rank dead last in the entire NFL in both total defense (426.7 yards per game allowed) and passing defense (310.3 yards per game allowed).

Free NFL Betting Prediction: New England -7

Both of these teams have been playing exceptionally well lately, winning three consecutive games. I’m fully expecting this to be a highly entertaining game featuring two exciting offenses. The battle between the Chargers top-ranked secondary and Tom Brady and Co. should be exciting to watch. I don’t mind taking the over on 48 in this particular spot, but I think that the best value is laying the seven points and taking the Patriots to keep rolling at home.

Los Angeles is a rather uninspiring 3-8-1 ATS over their past 12 games overall. While winning three games in a row is certainly impressive, they certainly didn’t have to face any teams even close to the calibre of New England. The Patriots are 10-4 ATS over their past 14 games against AFC teams and an impressive 11-4 ATS over their past 15 games overall.

New England has had the Chargers number recently, taking 6 out of the last 7 meetings between the two teams. Just as importantly, the Patriots are 5-2 ATS over their past seven meetings with Los Angeles while playing in Gillette Stadium. Much has been made about how poor New England has looked defensively, but I think that they have definitely started to turn things around. They haven’t allowed more than 17 points for three straight games and managed to hold Matt Ryan and Co. to just 7 points last weekend. This game might stay close for at least a couple of quarters, but I think that the Patriots will eventually end up pulling away and winning by double-digits at home.
