Marshall has now won five games in a row after beating LA Tech 31-10 their last time out to improve to 7-3 on the season overall. The Thundering Herd scored 17 unanswered points in the second quarter and never looked back, giving up only a single field goal the rest of the game en route to a double-digit victory. QB Isaiah Green went 14/26 for 213 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding 24 yards and a score on the ground. RB Brenden Knox was a monster out of the backfield, racking up 113 rushing yards and two touchdowns on a game-high 25 carries. Obi Obialo also chipped in, making eight receptions for 146 yards. As a whole, Marshall gained over 400 total yards of offense and found the end zone four times in the win.
The Thundering Herd had a great outing on the other side of the ball against LA Tech, giving up under 300 total yards of offense and only one touchdown. Marshall was especially impressive defending against the run, holding the Bulldogs to just 101 net rushing yards.
Charlotte managed to get past UTEP their last time out, winning 28-21 on the road to get back to .500 on the season overall. The 49ers gave up two touchdowns in the first quarter but dominated both sides of the ball over the final 45 minutes of the game to pull off an impressive comeback. QB Chris Reynolds went 24/35 for 354 passing yards and two touchdowns while also leading the way on the ground with 91 rushing yards on a team-high 18 carries. Cameron Dollar torched the Miners secondary, hauling in nine catches for 157 receiving yards. Overall, Charlotte generated almost 500 total yards and scored three touchdowns on offense in the victory.
The 49ers were fairly average defensively against UTEP, holding the Miners to three touchdowns despite giving up almost 400 total yards of offense. Charlotte did have some trouble trying to contain WR Jacob Cowing, as he racked up six catches for 145 receiving yards.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Marshall -7
Although I don’t mind the OVER on 56 total points scored, my favorite play from this Conference USA showdown is definitely Marshall against the spread. The Thundering Herd have certainly been the more consistent team so far this season, going 7-3 outright through their first ten games. They also haven’t lost a game since early October, which certainly bodes well for their chances here in Week 13. On the other side, Charlotte is only 4-6 against the spread this year – including a very average 2-2 record ATS at home. While I will almost certainly fade this game entirely if the spread moves up by even half a point before kickoff, I really think that the Thundering Herd currently offer the most value in this matchup.

Marshall has really fared well against the 49ers over the past several years, winning three out of their last four meetings outright. While they have split the series against the spread over that same time span, the Thundering Herd still averaged well over ten more points per game during that four game stretch. Charlotte has also been experiencing a bit of a downswing lately as well, failing to cover the number in five out of their last seven outings. I’ll lay the touchdown and roll with the road favorite on Saturday afternoon – give me Marshall to cover!
