Taking a look at the Week 10 college football odds, Middle Tennessee opened as a 3-point road favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Blue Raiders are currently available at -3. The total for the game is sitting at 64.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Charlotte vs Middle Tennessee
Middle Tennessee avoided losing their third consecutive game last weekend, crushing FIU 50-17 at home to improve to 3-5 on the season overall. The Blue Raiders trailed by a field goal at the half but came flying out of the gates to start the third quarter, scoring 23 unanswered points in fifteen minutes en route to a blowout victory. QB Asher O’Hara went 6/12 for 25 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding 159 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. RB Terelle West torched the Panthers defense for 130 rushing yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries out of the backfield. Jimmy Marshall led the way for the receiving corps, finding the end zone on one of his two catches for 11 yards. As a whole, Middle Tennessee State generated over 500 total yards of offense and scored seven touchdowns against a shell-shocked Florida International University defense.
The Blue Riders had a decent outing on the other side of the ball against FIU, holding the Panthers to under 350 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Middle Tennessee State was especially strong defending against the run, giving up only 89 net rushing yards and no touchdowns on the ground.
Charlotte snapped a four game losing slide last weekend, squeaking by North Texas 39-38 to improve to 3-5 on the season overall. The 49ers outscored the Mean Green 18-3 in the fourth quarter to pull off a dramatic comeback victory after trailing by over two touchdowns at several points throughout the game. QB Chris Reynolds went 24/32 for 336 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while also adding 96 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. RB Ben Lemay also chipped in, racking up 155 yards and two rushing touchdowns on a game-high 30 carries. The dynamic receiving duo of Victor Tucker and Tyler Ringwood put on a show, combining for 240 yards and two touchdowns on 13 receptions. Overall, Charlotte gained just under 600 total yards of offense and scored six touchdowns against a below average Mean Green defense in the win.
The 49ers struggled defensively against North Texas, giving up well over 500 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. Charlotte had no answer for Mean Green WR Jyaire Shorter, as he found the end zone three times and recorded 111 receiving yards despite making only three catches.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 64.5
I’m really not seeing a ton of value with either side against the spread in this Conference USA battle on Saturday afternoon, as both teams are hovering around the .500 mark this season against the spread and appear to be fairly evenly matched. While I would lean slightly towards Middle Tennessee State, Charlotte should have a ton of confidence here in Week 10 after finally ending a multi-game losing streak. Instead of throwing darts against what looks to be a pretty efficient spread, I would rather target the OVER on 64.5 total points scored. Both offenses have really been firing on all cylinders as of late, scoring at least three touchdowns in three out of their last four games overall. Neither team has looked very impressive on defense either, surrendering at least 30 points in consecutive outings.

It is also worth noting that these two Conference USA rivals have been involved in plenty of high-scoring battles in recent years, as the total has gone OVER in three out of their last four meetings. The OVER has also come through in four straight games that Charlotte has played at home and in seven out of their last eight games overall. A similar trend has occurred with the Blue Raiders, as the OVER has occurred in seven out of Middle Tennessee State’s last ten games overall. I’ll avoid both programs against the spread in favor of the OVER on 64.5 total points scored.
