Chiefs vs Cardinals Vegas Odds & Game Preview

Arizona snapped their two game losing streak last weekend after beating San Francisco for the second time so far this season. The Cardinals offense has definitely looked a bit better since new offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich took over several weeks ago. QB Josh Rosen looked pretty good against the 49ers last weekend, throwing for 252  yards and two touchdowns in the victory. WR Larry Fitzgerald also looked re-energized, racking up eight receptions for 102 yards and a touchdown. RB David Johnson continues to get more involved in the offense as well, as he had 20 total touches in Week 9. Overall, Arizona is currently averaging just 13.8 points per game (31st overall) on 233.3 yards of total offense.

Things have looked much better on the other side of the ball, as the Cardinals are giving up an average of 24.9 points per game (17th overall) on 367.8 total yards. However, they have really struggled against the run, as opponents are averaging 143.1 yards per game on the ground (31st overall).

Kansas City continues to roll, as they have now won three consecutive games and scored 30+ points five weeks in a row. The Cleveland Browns were their latest victims, as the Chiefs racked up 499 yards of total offense in a 37-21 victory. Rookie sensation Patrick Mahomes continues to be the talk of the NFL, as he has already thrown for 2,901 yards and 29 touchdowns in just nine games. He was electric yet again last weekend, passing for 375 yards and three touchdowns against Cleveland. RB Kareem Hunt had a monster game as well, rushing for 141 yards and three touchdowns. He has a good shot at a repeat performance here in Week 10, as the Cards have been one of the worst teams against the rush league-wide. As a whole, Kansas City is currently averaging 36.3 points per game (1st overall) on 433.4 total yards of offense.

The Chiefs have been below average defensively, as they are currently giving up 25.1 points per game (19th overall) on 427.4 yards of total offense. They have been especially bad against the pass, as opponents are currently averaging 302.7 yards per game through the air (28th overall).

Free NFL Betting Prediction: Kansas City -16.5

Much like Alabama in College Football, I am going to continue to take the Chiefs against the spread until they give me a reason to do otherwise. This line seemed pretty big at first glance, but then I remembered that Mahomes has now thrown 15 touchdown passes in his last four games. Arizona has been really bad against the run so far this year, and Kareem Hunt has shown what he can do against below-average defensive teams. Rosen and Co. certainly look to be slowly headed in the right direction, but there is no way he has a shot of keeping pace with such an explosive Kansas City offense. Throw in the fact that Arizona is playing on the road this weekend in one of the loudest stadiums in pro sports, and I feel pretty good about the likelihood of a 3+ touchdown Chiefs victory.

The Cardinals are just 7-16-1 ATS over their last 24 games against teams with a winning record. They are also 3-12-2 ATS in their last 17 games following a straight up win and 3-7-1 ATS over their last 11 road games. Kansas City is a very impressive 12-2 ATS over their last 14 games overall. They are also 4-1 ATS in their last five games against teams with a losing record and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games at Arrowhead Stadium.

The only thing that points to any potential danger for Kansas City in this matchup is their upcoming primetime battle with the Los Angeles Rams on Monday Night Football in Week 11. Even so, the Chiefs are too good of a team not to put a lot of points on the board in a hurry in this particular spot. Arizona has lost to every team they have played so far this season that isn’t the hapless San Francisco 49ers, so I’m laying the 16.5 points and rolling with the huge home favorite on Sunday afternoon – give me Kansas City.
