The #2 overall Clemson Tigers (7-0) travel to Tallahassee this weekend to take on the Florida State Seminoles (4-3) in a critical ACC matchup. Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST at Doak Campbell Stadium and the game will be available on ABC.
Taking a look at the Week 9 college football odds, Clemson opened as a 14.5-point road favorite earlier this week. That line has shifted only slightly after early betting, as the Tigers are currently listed at -14. The total for the game is sitting at 51 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Florida State vs Clemson
Clemson stayed unbeaten last weekend after crushing NC State 41-7 to improve to 7-0 so far this season. The Tigers were dominant on both sides of the ball, especially on offense where freshman QB Trevor Lawrence passed for over 300 yards and a touchdown. RB Travis Etienne had another big game as well, finding the end zone on three seperate occasions. WR Tee Higgins put on a clinic against the Wolfpack secondary, racking up 119 yards and a touchdown. The biggest story for the Tigers on offense has been the composure shown by Lawrence after taking over for the departed Kelly Bryant. He has already passed for over 1,000 yards and 12 touchdowns while only throwing two interceptions. Overall, Clemson is currently averaging a very healthy 42.0 points per game (12th).
There is no doubt that the Tigers have been equally as impressive on the other side of the ball, as they have held opponents to average of just 13.4 points per game (3rd overall). They have totally shut down teams through the air, giving up a ridiculous average of only 158.6 passing yards per game (5th). Clemson is currently 14th overall against the run, yielding only 107.7 yards per game on the ground.
Florida State looks to be showing some small signs of recovery after starting out their season 1-2. The Seminoles have now won three out of their last four games including a lopsided 38-17 victory over Wake Forest last weekend. QB Deondre Francois was fanastic, throwing for 353 yards and two touchdowns. His favorite target against the Deacons was clearly WR Nyqwan Murray, who racked up eight receptions for 131 yards and a touchdown. RB Cam Akers had a big afternoon as well, rushing for 98 yards and two touchdowns. As a whole, Florida State is currently averaging just 25.1 points per game (92nd).
Things have looked fairly mediocre on the other side of the ball for the Seminoles, as opponents are currently averaging 24.0 points per game (52nd overall). They have really struggled to defend against the pass, allowing a very healthy 271.3 yards per game through the air (112th overall).
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Clemson -14
I got tricked into buying the hype surrounding the Clemson/NC State rivalry game last weekend and it ended up costing me, as the Wolfpack got absolutely destroyed and were miles away from covering the spread. I’m not going to make the same mistake two weeks in a row, as I want no part of the Tigers opponents when they are cruising offensively like this. Five out of their seven games have been decided by 28 or more points so far this year. Florida State has shown signs of life after a dreadful start but I still don’t have any faith in their below average defense. Clemson has shown how talented they are on both sides of the ball and has owned the Seminoles as of late, going 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games.

The Tigers are also a very solid 5-1 ATS in their last six conference games and 6-3 ATS over their last nine games on the road. Florida State is just 3-4 ATS in seven games this season and 2-4 ATS in their last six games at home against Clemson.
While the Seminoles have looked a lot better in recent weeks, they are still only 2-6-2 ATS over their past ten games against teams with a winning record. They are also a dreadful 2-9-2 ATS in their last thirteen conference games. Ultimately, I think they might be able to keep things close for a couple of quarters at most on Saturday afternoon. Clemson is riding a ton of momentum and can’t be stopped right now – I’ll lay the two touchdowns and roll with the road favorite.
