This Saturday the No. 3 ranked Clemson Tigers (4-0) will host the Syracuse Orange (4-0). Kickoff is set for 12:00 EST at Memorial Stadium and will be televised nationally on ABC.

Taking a look at the Week 5 college football odds, the books opened with Clemson as a 21-point home favorite, but that’s been bet up and the Tigers are now a 23.5-point favorite. The total for this game is currently at 66 points.

Clemson vs Syracuse Vegas Betting Predictions & Game Preview

The Orange come into this one off a solid 51-21 win at home over UConn. It depends on when you bet the game on whether or not they covered. Syracuse was a 27.5-point favorite early in the week, but closed as a 31-point favorite. The game was never in doubt, as Syracuse jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the 1st quarter. The Orange put up 636 total yards in the win.

Clemson enters off an easy 49-21 win and cover as a 15.5-point favorite at Georgia Tech. The Tigers were up 42-7 less than 10 minutes into the 2nd half before calling off the dogs. It was a complete effort for Clemson, who put up 480 total yards, while holding the Yellow Jackets to just 203 yards. It was the Tigers’ first cover of 2018, as they had started out 0-3 ATS.

Most will recall the meeting between these two teams last year. Syracuse stunned then No. 2 Clemson 27-24 as a 23-point home dog. It was the Tigers only loss during the regular-season and did come with a bit of an asterisk, as starting quarterback Kelly Bryant had to leave with a concussion in the 1st half. Prior to that the Tigers had won each of the previous 4 meetings, all by at least 10 points.

College Football Free Predictions & Betting Pick: Clemson -23.5

I think a lot of people are going to be enticed to take the points with Syracuse in this one. Not just because the Orange beat them last year, but there’s a lot of hype around this Syracuse team, especially after their 4-0 start ATS. There’s just no way I’m betting against Clemson in this spot.

This isn’t just another game for the Tigers after what happened last year against the Orange. Clemson doesn’t just want to beat Syracuse, they want to annihilate them. On top of that, there’s going to be a buzz in Memorial Stadium with true freshman Trevor Lawrence making his first start.

No disrespect to Kelly Bryant, who was great for this team last year, he’s no where close to the player that Lawrence is. Bryant started last week against Georgia Tech and got the first two series. Both resulted in punts and the Tigers had just 13 total yards on 8 plays. Lawrence took over and the Tigers scored 5 touchdowns on his first 6 possessions.

I just don’t think we have seen the best of what this Clemson team has to offer. With an offense that should score at will, the Tigers should annihilate a lot of teams with that elite defense of theirs.

Keep in mind that while they only had 49 points and 480 yards against Georgia Tech, a lot of that had to do with the Yellow Jackets eating up clock with at option attack. Georgia Tech had the ball 36 minutes to Clemson’s 24. Syracuse is a team that likes to push the pace, so look for Clemson to get a lot more chances offensively in this one, which definitely gives them a better shot at covering this number.

The other thing to keep in mind with Syracuse is the schedule has been very kind to them early on. They have played Western Michigan, Wagner, Florida State and UConn. I also don’t think the Orange pose near the upset threat on the road as they do at home and last time they visited Memorial Stadium Clemson walked away with a 54-0 win as a 28-point favorite. Give me the Tigers -23.5.
