The #3 overall Clemson Tigers (12-0) battle the #22 overall Virginia Cavaliers (9-3) this weekend in the ACC Championship game. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM EST on December 7th at Bank of America Stadium and the game will be nationally televised on ABC.
Taking a look at the Week 15 college football odds, Clemson opened as a massive 28.5-point favorite earlier this week. The spread has come down by half a point after early betting, as the Tigers are currently available at -28. The total for the game is sitting at 54 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Clemson vs Virginia
Virginia won their fourth straight game last weekend, beating Virginia Tech 39-30 at home to improve to 9-3 on the season overall. The Cavaliers jumped out to an early 13-3 lead and managed to hold on down the stretch despite getting outscored 21-3 in the third quarter. QB Bryce Perkins went 20/33 for 311 passing yards and a touchdown through the air but also got picked off once as well. However, Perkins was fantastic on the ground, racking up 164 rushing yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 19 carries. Hasise Dubois led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in four catches for 139 yards. As a whole, Virginia generated just under 500 total yards and found the end zone four times on offense in the victory.
The Cavaliers didn’t have a great outing on the other side of the ball against Virginia Tech, surrendering almost 500 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Virginia had no answer for Hokies WR Tre Turner, as he torched the secondary for 134 yards and a touchdown on seven receptions.
Clemson finished the regular season unbeaten, crushing South Carolina 38-3 on the road last weekend to move to 12-0 overall. The Tigers scored 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back, surrendering only a single field goal the entire game. QB Trevor Lawrence played well, going 26/36 for 295 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air. Lawrence also led the way on the ground, rushing for 66 yards on just eight carries. Justyn Ross and Tee Higgins ran circles around the Gamecocks secondary, combining for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 12 catches. Overall, Clemson gained over 500 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns in the blowout win.
The Tigers were fantastic defensively against South Carolina, barely giving up more than 150 total yards of offense and no touchdowns. Clemson was especially strong defending against the pass, allowing just 105 yards through the air while also forcing an interception.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 54
I really don’t see a ton of value on either side against the spread in this massive ACC showdown, as the number currently looks pretty efficient overall. While I would much rather take my chances with an undefeated Tigers squad, laying four full touchdowns really doesn’t leave a lot of wiggle room against a more than capable Cavaliers offense. Therefore, my favorite play in this spot is definitely the OVER on 54 total points scored, as I think that the Tigers should find a way to put up 40+ while Virginia should find a way to get into the end zone at least twice.

The Tigers were certainly the better team against the spread during the regular season, going a rock-solid 9-3 ATS through twelve games. It is important to note that these two ACC rivals have been involved in plenty of high scoring matchups together in recent years, as the total has now gone OVER in two out of their last three meetings. The total has also gone OVER in five out of Virginia’s last six games overall and in four out of their last five battles with ACC opponents. On the other side, the OVER has hit in two straight games that the Tigers have had at a neutral site. I’m going to avoid throwing darts against a tough number in favor of the OVER on 54 total points scored in what should be a highly entertaining matchup.
