The UNLV Rebels (2-6) travel to Fort Collins this weekend for a Mountain West clash with the Colorado State Rams (3-5). Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST on November 2nd at Canvas Stadium and the game will be televised on AT&T Sportsnet.
Taking a look at the Week 10 college football odds, Colorado State opened as a 10-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has come down by over a full point after early betting, as the Rams are currently available at -8.5. The total for the game is sitting at 64.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Colorado State vs UNLV
UNLV came up just short against #25 overall San Diego State last weekend, falling 20-17 at home to drop to 2-6 on the year overall. The Rebels gave up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and couldn’t quite pull off the comeback over the final 45 minutes of the game, coming up just a field goal short as time expired. QB Kenyon Oblad played well, going 21/39 for 255 yards and two touchdowns through the air. RB Charles Williams led the way on the ground, rushing for 113 yards on a team-high 19 carries. Randal Grimes torched the Aztecs secondary, hauling in five receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown. As a whole, UNLV generated just under 400 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
The Rebels had a strong outing on the other side of the ball against San Diego State, holding the Aztecs to just over 300 total yards of offense and only allowing a single touchdown. UNLV was especially tough against the run, as they kept San Diego State out of the end zone on the ground.
Colorado State won their second straight game last weekend, beating Fresno State 41-31 on the road to move to 3-5 on the season overall. The Rams had a 21-14 lead at the half and managed to hold on down the stretch, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-17 over the final two quarters en route to a double-digit victory. QB Patrick O’Brien went 23/42 for 322 passing yards and two touchdowns while also finding the end zone once on the ground. Marcus McElroy had a monster game, racking up 117 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 18 carries. Warren Jackson was fantastic as well, exploding for 178 receiving yards and a touchdown on nine catches. Overall, Colorado State gained just over 500 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns against a shell-shocked Bulldogs defense.
The Rams weren’t nearly as impressive defensively against Fresno State, surrendering just under 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Colorado State had no answer for Bulldogs RB Ronnie Rivers on the ground, as he rumbled for 146 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Colorado State -8.5
Now that the spread has shrunk to 8.5 points, I think that Colorado State offers pretty decent value in this Mountain West matchup. The Rams have been very impressive on offense as of late, scoring 76 total points over just their last two games combined. While UNLV has battled hard this season, the Rebels just don’t have enough firepower on offense to keep pace in this particular spot – especially on the road where they are only 1-3 overall through their first four games away from Sam Boyd Stadium.

Colorado State has also dominated UNLV against the spread as of late, covering the number in seven out of their last ten meetings. The Rams are also a perfect 6-0 against the spread in their last six home games against the Nevada-Las Vegas and 4-1 against the spread over their last five games overall. On the other side, the Rebels are just 3-16 straight up in their last 19 matchups with CSU. I’ll lay the 8.5 points and roll with the home favorites on Saturday afternoon- give me the Rams to cover the number!
