Colts vs Dolphins Game Odds & Betting Preview

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins finally found a way to get in the win column last weekend, beating the Jets 26-18 at home to improve to 1-7 on the season overall. Miami scored three touchdowns in the second quarter to take the lead and never looked back, giving up just two field goals over the final 30 minutes of the game. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick played very well, going 24/36 for 288 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air. Fitzmagic certainly had a ton of help from Mike Gesicki, Preston Williams, and DeVante Parker, as the trio combined for well over 200 receiving yards and three touchdowns. As a whole, the Dolphins generated over 300 total yards of offense and found the end zone three times in the victory.

Miami was fairly solid defensively against the Jets, holding Darnold and Co. to just one touchdown on well over 300 total yards of offense. The Dolphins really did a great job on the ground, holding New York to only 83 net rushing yards.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts saw their three game winning streak come to an end last weekend, falling 26-24 on the road against Pittsburgh to drop to 5-3 on the season overall. Indianapolis had a 16-13 lead at the half but couldn’t hold on down the stretch, getting outscored 13-8 over the final two quarters. QB Jacoby Brissett went 4/5 for 59 passing yards before being forced to leave the game in the first half due to a knee injury. Backup Brian Hoyer played fairly well off the bench, going 17/26 for 168 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air despite also throwing a pick-six. Hoyer will get the start here in Week 10 against the Dolphins after it was announced that Brissett would be out for at least one game with an MCL sprain. He should get a ton of help from RB Marlon Mack against a suspect Miami run defense, although Mack was held to 4.2 yards per carry by Pittsburgh.

Indianapolis had a very strong outing on the other side of the ball in Week 9, giving up well under 300 total yard of offense and just a single touchdown. The Colts were especially strong defending against the run, surrendering only 90 net rushing yards.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Dolphins +10.5

Even though it’s important not to get too carried away about one positive result, it’s hard not to be impressed with the Dolphins after winning by almost double-digits at home last weekend. While I certainly am not predicting a second straight win for Miami, I do think that they should find a way to stay within ten points of Indianapolis on the road here in Week 10 – especially with Brian Hoyer under center for the Colts. Hoyer has struggled with interceptions for most of his career, so his pick-six last weekend against Pittsburgh certainly wasn’t a good sign of things to come moving forward with Brissett sidelined due to injury. Of course, the Dolphins are certainly a well below average team on defense, Hoyer should still be able to find some success at home on Sunday afternoon.

Losing WR Preston Williams for the season will certainly hurt the Miami offense over the second half of the year. However, TE Mike Gesicki really stepped up last weekend, making a season-high six catches and leading the way for the receiving corps. I think that the Dolphins should be able to stay within striking distance on the road in this all-AFC clash, especially if Indianapolis tries to control the clock with a heavy dose of Marlon Mack on the ground. It is also important to note that Miami has fared quite well against the spread in this matchup as of late, covering the number in two out their last three meetings with the Colts. I’m going to take a shot with the points and the road underdog on Sunday afternoon – give me the Dolphins to cover!
