Cowboys vs Dolphins Game Odds & Betting Preview
The Dolphins woes continued last weekend, as they got crushed 43-0 at home by New England. The Patriots were flying right out of the gate, scoring 13 unanswered points in the first half before really turning it on over the final two quarters. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick struggled to get the offense going for a second consecutive game, going just 11/21 for 89 yards and throwing three interceptions. It appears as if Josh Rosen will now take over the starting job, although it seems highly unlikely that he will find any prolonged success behind a dreadful offensive line. Miami only managed to gain 42 net rushing yards, as only Kenyan Drake had more than five carries all game. The only bright spot on offense was another solid performance by WR Preston Williams who caught four passes for 63 yards.
Miami clearly did not play well on the other side of the ball, giving up 43 points on almost 400 yards of total offense. The Dolphins were especially bad against the pass, as Tom Brady easily managed to throw several touchdowns and complete 20/28 throwing attempts.
Dallas improved to 2-0 overall last weekend after their second consecutive divisional win. After beating New York 35-17 at home in Week 1, the Cowboys went on the road and beat Washington 31-21. QB Dak Prescott had a second consecutive strong performance, going 26/30 for 269 yards and three touchdowns. RB Ezekiel Elliott also had a solid game, rushing for 111 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries. Elliott is clearly back to his old self after a lengthy holdout during the preseason made Dallas opt to limit his workload somewhat in their home opener. The receiving trio of Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and Devin Smith was also very impressive, combining for 186 receiving yards and two touchdowns. It appears as though Gallup will miss at least a couple of games after suffering a torn meniscus. Smith should get a few more looks in his absence after such a strong showing last weekend.
The Cowboys defense was pretty good for the most part against the Redskins, holding the offense to three touchdowns on just over 250 total yards. Dallas wasn’t quite as solid against the pass, however, allowing Case Keenum to throw for two touchdowns.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and ATS Pick: Dallas -21.5
I don’t think there is a ton of value in this spot, as the Cowboys will be extreme chalk considering how little faith the public (or pretty much anyone) has in Miami. The Dolphins are an absolute dumpster-fire on both sides of the ball right now and are almost certainly in for another long afternoon here in Week 3. I have a hard time imagining a scenario in which Josh Rosen is able to have any more success at quarterback than Fitzpatrick did, especially since he is playing behind such a weak offensive line. To make matters even worse for Miami, Dallas is firing on all cylinders offensively right now, scoring at least 30 points in back to back games. It appears extremely likely that at least several Cowboys players will have a huge statistical day against a Dolphins defense that has already given up 102 points just two games into the season.

Again, laying almost three touchdowns in the NFL is not a good play over the long run by any means. However, as much as I am tempted by the boat load of points in this matchup, I can’t picture how Miami could possibly find a way to magically turn things around and hang tough for a couple of quarters against such a solid team. The Cowboys are currently first in the NFC East and will want to add to their lead over Philadelphia, so this shouldn’t be a letdown spot after two important divisional battles to open the season either. I’ll reluctantly lay the 21.5 points and take the massive home favorite – give me the Cowboys!
