The Miami Hurricanes (6-5) travel to Durham, North Carolina this weekend for an ACC Coastal clash with the Duke Blue Devils (4-7). Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST on November 30th at Wallace Wade Stadium and the game will be televised on ESPN2.
Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, Duke opened as a 7-point home underdog earlier this week. The spread has moved up by a full point after early betting, as the Blue Devils are currently available at +8. The total for the game is sitting at 45 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Duke vs Miami
Miami saw their three game winning streak come to an end last weekend, losing 30-24 on the road against Florida International to drop to 6-5 overall. The Hurricanes gave up ten unanswered points in the first quarter and never recovered, coming up six points short at the end of the game despite outscoring the Panthers 24-17 in the second half. QB Jarren Williams had an up and down game, going 19/36 for 249 passing yards and two touchdowns but also got picked off three times as well. RB Cam’Ron Harris led the way on the ground, rushing for 86 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Mark Pope also found the end zone, hitting pay dirt on one of his two receptions for 49 yards. As a whole, Miami generated over 400 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns despite coming up short on the scoreboard.
The Hurricanes didn’t have a great outing on the other side of the ball against FIU, surrendering close to 300 total yards and three touchdowns. Miami had no answer for Panthers RB Anthony Jones on the ground, allowing him to rack up 112 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Duke lost their fifth consecutive game last weekend after falling 39-27 on the road against Wake Forest. The Blue Devils trailed 13-10 at the half and couldn’t find a way to pull off a comeback over the final two quarters of the game, getting outscored 26-17 down the stretch. QB Quentin Harris went 14/23 for 163 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding 39 rushing yards on a team-high 14 carries on the ground. Noah Gray led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in seven catches for 76 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Duke gained just over 300 total yards and found the end zone on offense just once in the loss.
The Blue Devils struggled defensively against Wake Forest, giving up over 600 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Duke couldn’t find a way to slow down Demon Deacons QB Jamie Newman on the ground, as he lit up the defense for 144 rushing yards and a touchdown.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Miami -8
I’m leaning towards the Hurricanes against the spread in this ACC Coastal battle, as Miami has certainly been the more consistent team through the first 13 weeks of the season. Although they struggled against Wake Forest last weekend, they are still a very respectable 4-2 against the spread in their last six games away from Hard Rock Stadium. On the other side, Duke has failed to cover the number in eight out of their last eleven games overall – including going just 1-2-1 against the spread over their last four games at Wallace Wade Stadium.

It is also important to note that Miami has dominated the Blue Devils over their last several meetings, going 8-2 outright while also covering the spread in two out of their last three battles. The Hurricanes have also limited Duke to around 15 points per game since 2016, which certainly doesn’t bode well for the home team in this ACC Coastal rivalry. Finally, Miami is also a very impressive 4-1 against the spread in their last five conference games as well. I’ll lay the eight points and take a shot with the road favorite on Saturday afternoon – give me the Hurricanes to cover!
