Taking a look at the Week 12 college football odds, Duke opened as a 10.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Blue Devils are currently available at -10.5. The total for the game is sitting at 54 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Duke vs Syracuse
Syracuse is currently in the midst of a four game losing streak after falling 58-27 at home against Boston College their last time out to drop to 3-6 on the season overall. The Orange gave up 34 points in the second quarter alone en route to an embarrassing double-digit loss. QB Tommy Devito went 25/36 for 289 passing yards and three touchdowns while also adding 61 rushing yards on a team-high 16 carries. Trishton Jackson led the way for the receiving corps, torching the Eagles secondary for 148 yards and two touchdowns on eight catches. As a whole, Syracuse generated just under 450 total yards of offense and found the end zone three times despite coming up well short on the scoreboard.
The Orange obviously had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against Boston College, giving up well over 650 total yards of offense and eight touchdowns. Syracuse had no answer for the Eagles on the ground, as they racked up almost 500 yards and five rushing touchdowns.
Duke lost their third straight game last weekend after getting crushed 38-7 at home by #16 overall Notre Dame to drop below the .500 mark on the season overall. The Blue Devils gave up 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and never recovered, scoring just a single touchdown all game. QB Quentin Harris went 16/28 for 102 passing yards and a touchdown while also throwing a costly interception as well. RB Deon Jackson led the way on the ground, rushing for 52 yards on a team-high 14 carries. Aaron Young was on the receiving end of the only passing touchdown of the game for the offense, finding the end zone on one of his two catches for just 30 yards. Overall, Duke gained under 200 total yards of offense against a rock-solid Fighting Irish defense.
The Blue Devils weren’t great defensively against Notre Dame, surrendering around 500 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. Duke struggled to contain Fighting Irish QB Ian Book, as he threw four touchdowns while also adding 139 rushing yards on the ground.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Duke -10.5
I’m most likely going to avoid this ACC clash entirely on Saturday afternoon, as both the spread and total currently look extremely accurate to me. I really don’t want to guess against efficient numbers, especially since both teams have performed below .500 against the spread so far this season. Even so, I’m still leaning slightly towards Duke at home in this particular spot, as the Orange have gone a brutal 0-5 ATS over their last five outings. Syracuse has also been dreadful on the road this year, failing to cover the number in three out of their last four road games. The Blue Devils have also shown they can put up points against below average defenses, scoring at least 30 points five times this season already.

It is also important to note that Duke dominated the Orange on both sides of the ball in the last meeting between these two Atlantic Coast Conference programs, winning by over two touchdowns while also covering the four point spread despite playing on the road. Syracuse has also really struggled defensively over their last couple of outings, surrendering 93 total points in two games. Again, there probably isn’t enough value against the spread or game total to fire on this matchup. Ultimately, if forced to pick a side, I’ll roll with the home favorite in a game they should find a way to win outright.
