Eagles vs Patriots Game Odds & Betting Preview

New England Patriots

The Patriots lost their first game of the season their last time out, falling 37-20 on the road against Baltimore on Sunday Night Football. New England gave up ten unanswered points in the first quarter and couldn’t find a way to pull off the comeback, getting outscored 27-20 the rest of the way en route to a double-digit defeat. QB Tom Brady wasn’t at his best, going 30/46 for 285 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also getting picked off once. James White led the way on the ground, rushing for 38 yards and a touchdown on nine carries. Julian Edelman led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in ten receptions for 89 yards. Newly acquired Mohamaed Sanu also had a good game, finding the end zone on one of his ten catches for 81 yards. Overall, the Patriots gained well over 300 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns.

New England didn’t play well defensively against the Ravens, getting torched for almost 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Patriots had no answer for Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson, as he passed for 163 yards and a touchdown while also adding two scores on the ground.

Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles got back above the .500 mark their last time out, beating Chicago 22-14 on the road. Philadelphia scored 12 unanswered points in the first half and managed to hang on down the stretch despite giving up two touchdowns over the final two quarters. QB Carson Wentz threw for 239 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while RB Jordan Howard rushed for a team-high 82 yards on the ground. TE Zach Ertz was on the receiving end of the only passing touchdown of the game for the offense, hitting pay dirt on one of his nine catches for 103 yards. As a whole, the Eagles generated almost 400 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the victory.

Philadelphia had a strong outing on the other side of the ball in Week 9, holding the Bears to under 200 total yards of offense. The Eagles were especially strong defending against the pass, allowing only 125 yards through the air.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Patriots -4

I am leaning towards New England against the spread here in Week 11, especially since the Patriots had a bye last week and were forced to sit and stew about their first loss of the season. While Philadelphia has also had some extra time to prepare, I’m still a bit concerned about their defense that gave up 30+ points to both Minnesota and Dallas. New England should also find a way to rebound defensively after a rough outing against the Ravens, as they had only given up 34 total points in their last four games prior to Week 9.

It is also important to note that the Patriots have really performed well against the spread as of late, going a rock-solid 4-1 ATS over their last four outings. New England has found consistent success against the NFC in recent years as well, covering the number in six straight inter-conference battles. Finally, the Pats are also 5-1 outright over their last six games away from Gillette Stadium. On the other side, Philadelphia is just 4-5 against the spread through their first nine games this season. I’ll lay the four points and roll with the slight road underdog on Sunday afternoon – give me New England to cover!
