Taking a look at the Week 10 college football odds, Eastern Michigan opened as a slim 2-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has moved down by a full point after early betting, as the Eagles are currently available at -1. The total for the game is sitting at 49 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Eastern Michigan vs Buffalo
Buffalo won their second straight game last weekend, beating Central Michigan 43-20 at home to get back to .500 on the season overall. The Bulls trailed 7-3 heading into the second quarter before exploding for 27 points over just the next 15 minutes en route to a double-digit victory. QB Kyle Vantrease went 13/25 for 179 passing yards and two touchdowns but also got picked off once as well. RB Jaret Patterson had a monster day on the ground, racking up 149 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries. Antonio Nunn also got in on the scoring parade, hauling in five catches for 77 yards and two touchdowns to lead the way for the receiving corps. Overall, Buffalo generated just under 400 total yards and scored four offensive touchdowns in the win.
The Bulls had a decent outing on the other side of the ball against Central Michigan, holding the Chippewas to three touchdowns despite giving up well over 325 total yards of offense. However, Buffalo really struggled to contain the receiving duo of JaCorey Sullivan and Kalil Pimpleton, as they torched the secondary for 196 yards and two touchdowns.
Eastern Michigan has now lost three out of their last four games after falling 37-34 in overtime against Toledo last weekend. The Eagles scored 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to force extra time but couldn’t keep the Rockets out of the end zone after putting up just a field goal on their first possession. QB Mike Glass III went 21/37 for 286 yards and a touchdown while also adding 43 rushing yards and a score on the ground as well. RB Shaq Vann was a beast out of the backfield, rumbling for 110 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 20 carries. Arthur Jackson III was on the receiving end of the only passing touchdown of the game for the offense, finding pay dirt on one of his four catches for 73 yards. As a whole, Eastern Michigan gained over 450 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
The Eagles didn’t play well defensively against Toledo, as the Rockets put up over 500 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. Eastern Michigan had no answer for RB Bryant Koback on the ground, as he embarrassed the defense for 259 rushing yards and two touchdowns on a game-high 32 carries.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 49
I really don’t want to throw darts against the spread in this Mid-American Conference clash, as the number currently looks pretty efficient to me overall. This matchup could certainly go either way, as both teams have identical 4-4 records on the season and appear to be relatively evenly matched on both sides of the ball. While I would probably lean slightly towards Eastern Michigan at home, I certainly don’t have a strong lean and will probably avoid this particular spot entirely. However, the OVER on 49 total points scored looks at least semi-appealing as both of these defenses have given up at least 30 points three times this year already. Both offenses also appear to be firing on all cylinders as of late, especially the Eagles who have scored 68 total points in just their last two outings. Of course, Buffalo put up 40+ in last weekend against Central Michigan and has also scored at least three touchdowns in five straight games.

It is also important to note that these two MAC rivals have been involved in some high-scoring games when facing each other in recent years, as the total has gone OVER in five out of their last seven meetings – including three straight since 2016. The OVER has also come through in both of Eastern Michigan’s last two outings as well. I’m going to avoid both programs against the spread in favor of the OVER on 49 total points scored in what should be a somewhat high-scoring matchup on Saturday afternoon.
