Falcons vs Bucs Game Odds & Betting Preview

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers have now lost five out of their last six games after falling 34-17 at home against New Orleans last weekend. Tampa Bay gave up 13 unanswered points in the first quarter and never recovered, giving up three more touchdowns en route to a double-digit defeat. QB Jameis Winston went 30/51 for 313 passing yards and two touchdowns but also threw four interceptions as well. TE Cameron Brate led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in ten catches for 73 yards. As a whole, the Buccaneers gained close to 400 total yards of offense and found the end zone twice despite coming up well short on the scoreboard.

Tampa Bay really struggled defensively against the Saints, giving up close to 350 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. The Bucs had no answer for WR Michael Thomas, as he exploded for 114 receiving yards and a touchdown on a team-high eight catches.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons won their second game in a row last weekend, crushing Carolina 29-3 on the road to improve to 3-7 on the season overall. Atlanta jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never looked back, cruising to a 3+ touchdown victory over the final three quarters of the game. QB Matt Ryan went 21/31 for 311 yards and a touchdown through the air while Qadree Ollison found the end zone on the ground despite rushing for only 11 yards on four carries. Calvin Ridley absolutely torched the Panthers secondary, hauling in eight catches for 143 yards and a touchdown. Overall, the Falcons generated almost 400 total yards and scored two touchdowns on offense in the win.

Atlanta had a spectacular outing on the other side of the ball in Week 11, surrendering only just a single field goal despite allowing over 400 total yards of offense. The Falcons really did a great job defending against the run, holding Carolina to just 77 rushing yards.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Falcons -3.5

I’m leaning slightly towards the home favorite in this NFC South battle, as Atlanta has really been playing well on both sides of the ball as of late. The Falcons have now scored 55 total points over their last two games combined while also holding their opponents to just 12 points during that same time span. Perhaps even more impressively, they also reeled off back to back wins over divisional opponents with a combined record of 13-7 overall so far this season. That certainly bodes well for them heading into a matchup with a struggling Buccaneers squad that only has managed to win one game since October 1st.

It is also important to note that the Falcons have absolutely dominated Tampa Bay in recent years, winning five straight meetings since 2016. Atlanta has also fared quite well against the spread when facing the Bucs as well, covering the number in two out of their last three battles. On the other side, Tampa Bay is a troubling 2-4 ATS over their last six road games and just 0-6 against the spread in their last six games overall. Finally, the Buccaneers are also an embarrassing 0-5 against the spread over their last five meetings with NFC opponents. I’m going to lay the 3.5 points and roll with the surging Falcons at home on Sunday afternoon – give me Atlanta to cover!
