Falcons vs Jaguars Game Odds & Betting Preview

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars finally snapped a five game losing slide last weekend after beating Oakland 20-16 on the road to improve to 5-9 on the season overall. Jacksonville trailed 16-3 at the half but completely dominated both sides of the ball over the final two quarters of the game, outscoring the Raiders 17-0. QB Gardner Minshew went 17/29 for 201 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air while RB Leonard Fournette rumbled for 42 rushing yards on a team-high 15 carries. Keelan Cole and Chris Conley torched the Raiders secondary, combining for 125 receiving yards and two touchdowns. As a whole, the Jaguars gained close to 300 totalĀ  yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the win.

Jacksonville was fairly solid defensively against the Raiders, giving up just a single touchdowns despite allowing almost 400 total yards of offense. The Jaguars did struggle to contain Oakland TE Darren Waller at times, allowing him to rack up eight receptions for 122 yards.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons won their second consecutive game last weekend, upsetting San Francisco 29-22 on the road to improve to 5-9 overall. Atlanta trailed 13-10 at the start of the fourth quarter but found a way to pull off an impressive comeback over the final 15 minutes of the game, outscoring the 49ers 19-9. QB Matt Ryan went 25/39 for 210 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air, both of which were caught by star wideout Julio Jones. Jones ran circles around the 49ers secondary, exploding for 134 yards and two touchdowns on a game-high 13 receptions. Overall, the Falcons generated almost 300 total yards of offense and found the end zone three times in the victory.

Atlanta had a decent outing on the other side of the ball against the 49ers, surrendering just over 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. However, the Falcons had no answer for San Francisco TE George Kittle, as he recorded 13 catches for 134 receiving yards.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Falcons -7

It’s hard not to like Atlanta against the spread in this particular spot, especially if the spread stays under 7.5 points. The Falcons are still available at only -7 at a few books, which is certainly my favorite play from this inter-conference clash. Jacksonville has really struggled over the past couple of months, covering the number just once over their last six games overall. The Jaguars have also been brutal against NFC opponents as of late, going a dreadful 0-6 ATS in their last six outings. On the other side, the Falcons have really been on a roll since the beginning of November, going a very impressive 5-2 ATS over their last seven games.

It is also important to note that Atlanta has owned the Jags when playing at home over the past decade, covering the number in five out of the last six meetings between these two teams at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The Falcons are also a rock-solid 5-1 against the spread over their last six battles with Jacksonville overall. They certainly put on a show the last time they hosted the Jaguars, winning 41-14 and easily covering the spread. I’ll lay the touchdown and take my chances with the home favorite on Sunday afternoon – give me the surging Falcons to cover!
