The Florida Atlantic Owls (9-3) host the UAB Blazers (9-3) this weekend in the Conference USA Championship game from Boca Raton. Kickoff is set for 1:30 PM EST on December 7th at FAU Stadium and the game will be broadcast on the CBS Sports Network.
Taking a look at the Week 15 college football odds, Florida Atlantic opened as a 7.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Owls are currently available at -7.5. The total for the game is sitting at 49.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: FAU vs UAB
UAB won their third consecutive game last weekend, beating North Texas 26-21 on the road to improve to 9-3 on the season overall. The Blazers had a 17-14 lead at the half and managed to hold on for the victory down the stretch despite getting completely shut out on offense for the entire fourth quarter. QB Dylan Hopkins didn’t do much through the air, going just 6/12 for 99 passing yards. RB Spencer Brown led the way on the ground, rushing for 111 yards and a touchdown on a team-high 19 carries. Kendall Parham also chipped in, making two catches for 60 yards. As a whole, UAB gained just over 300 total yards of offense and found the end zone two times in the victory.
The Blazers defense had a decent outing on the other side of the ball against North Texas, holding the Mean Green to well under 300 total yards of offense and forcing two interceptions. However, UAB had a tough time trying to slow down Jaelon Darden, as he hauled in ten receptions for 81 yards and a touchdown.
FAU has now won five straight games after an impressive 34-17 home victory over Southern Mississippi last weekend. The Owls scored ten unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring the Golden Eagles 24-17 over the final 45 minutes of the game. QB Chris Robison went 8/19 for 156 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while RB B.J. Emmons rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries on the ground. Harrison Bryant torched the secondary, exploding for 75 yards and three touchdowns on just three catches. Overall, FAU generated just under 300 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the win.
The Blazers were pretty solid defensively against Southern Mississippi, giving up well under 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. UAB made life extremely difficult for Golden Eagles QB Jack Abraham, recording four interceptions.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 49.5
I really want to take the Owls against the spread in this Conference USA showdown, as I think they should win this game outright on Saturday afternoon. However, I just can’t justify pulling the trigger unless the spread moves down half a point to -7. If it does, Florida Atlantic against the spread is my favorite play in this spot. However, as things sit now, I’m leaning slightly more towards the OVER on 49.5 total points scored. While UAB has certainly been fairly solid on defense and relatively unimpressive on offense, it’s impossible to ignore the fact that the total has now gone OVER in six consecutive meetings between these two rivals.

Florida Atlantic has also been firing on all cylinders offensively as of late, racking up at least 30 points in six consecutive games. I would really be somewhat surprised if the Owls don’t find a way to score at least 35 points against a Blazers defense that surrendered 37 points to Southern Mississippi back in early November – the same Golden Eagles team that FAU just beat 34-17 last weekend. Ultimately, I still want to see if I can grab the Owls at -7 at some point before kickoff. If not, I’m more than happy to take my chances with the OVER on 49.5 total points scored in this matchup.
