Florida State vs Boston College Vegas Betting Line & Game Preview
The Seminoles rough start continued last weekend, as they dropped to 2-4 on the season after a tough loss to Louisville. Florida State kept it close all game but couldn’t find a way to hold on during the final seconds of the game, losing 31-28 after a last second field goal by the Cardinals. The loss also dropped them to 2-3 in ACC play heading into this weekends match-up with the Eagles. Jimbo Fisher better hope his team is able to turn things around soon, as they may be on the outside looking in during bowl season if they can’t find a way to win at least 3 more games. Things may get even tougher for the Seminoles after losing RB Jacques Patrick to a knee injury last weekend. Florida State will now have to rely solely on freshman Cam Akers to lead the way on the ground. They have really struggled on offense, averaging only 356 total yards per game (102nd overall) and are scoring an average of just 19.8 points per game (115th overall).
Boston College got back to .500 on the season last weekend after an impressive 41-10 road victory over Virginia. Freshman QB Anthony Brown continued to shine, throwing for 275 yards and three touchdowns. Brown has really been a bright spot on this Boston College offense, already throwing for 1,200+ yards and 10 touchdowns. The Eagles are averaging 375.3 total yards per game (87th overall) while scoring an average of 23.0 points per game (100th overall). On the other side of the ball, Boston College has been somewhat mediocre. The Eagles have allowed opponents an average of 421 yards per game (92nd). They have specifically struggled with run defense, allowing an average of 224 rushing yards per game (113th).
Free NCAAF Betting Prediction: OVER 45
It will be really interesting to see how this game ends up playing out on Friday night. The Seminoles are in desperate need of a win but Boston College has certainly been on a roll lately. The Eagles have scored 40+ points in both of their last two games while Florida State is still struggling to get used to having true freshman James Blackman starting at quarterback. I would have all over B.C. at their opening line of +8 but early betting has moved it all the way down to just +2.5. I still think I like the Eagles to cover or even possibly win straight up, but as things sit right now I think the best value is taking the over on 45.

Florida State is 0-3-2 ATS in their last five conference games. They are also 0-4-2 ATS over their last 6 games overall. There is no doubt that things seem to be headed in the wrong direction for this Seminole team. On the other hand, Boston College is 5-0 ATS over their past five games. They have also looked fantastic offensively over the past two weeks. They may not score 40+ again this week, but I think they can easily score 25+ points. I also think that Florida State should have some success on offense this week, especially on the ground. Akers has looked really good this year and will likely have a big day against the Eagles lacklustre rush defense.
I certainly don’t think this game will turn out to be a shootout, but I am expecting each time to score between 20-30 points. I am fairly confident that Boston College should either cover or win outright, especially since they are playing at home. However, I like the over in this spot just a little bit more, as it takes some of the guess work in what looks like a close game that should go down to the wire.
