The Syracuse Orange (3-4) travel to Tallahassee this weekend for an ACC Atlantic clash with the Florida State Seminoles (3-4). Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST on October 26th at Doak Campbell Stadium and the game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
Taking a look at the Week 9 college football odds, Florida State opened as a 10-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Seminoles are currently listed at -10. The total for the game is sitting at 59.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Florida State vs Syracuse
Syracuse lost their second straight game last Friday, falling 27-20 at home against Pittsburgh to drop back below the .500 mark on the season. The Orange trailed 24-6 at the half and couldn’t quite find a way to pull off the comeback over the final two quarters despite outscoring the Panthers 14-3 down the stretch. QB Tommy Devito wasn’t at his best, going just 11/23 for 101 yards and no touchdowns. Clayton Welch was clearly the more efficient passer, throwing for 176 yards and two scores while also adding 36 rushing yards on the ground. Taj Harris was the only other player on offense to have a good game, exploding for 111 yards and a touchdown despite making just three receptions. As a whole, Syracuse gained just over 300 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the loss.
The Orange had a below average outing on the other side of the ball against Pitt, surrendering almost 400 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Syracuse had no answer for A.J. Davis on the ground, as the rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
Florida State also dropped their second consecutive game last weekend, losing 22-20 on the road against #25 overall Wake Forest. The Seminoles held a 14-12 lead at the half but couldn’t hold on down the stretch, giving up ten points in the fourth quarter to allow the Demon Deacons to retake the lead for good. QB James Blackman went 27/43 for 280 yards and two touchdowns through the air while RB Cam Akers racked up 157 yards and a score on a game-high 30 carries on the ground. Tamorrion Terry led the way for the receiving corps, making four catches for 55 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Florida State generated over 450 total yards of offense and scored three touchdowns despite coming up just short on the scoreboard.
The Seminoles were pretty solid defensively against Wake Forest, giving up just one touchdown despite allowing over 400 total yards of offense. However, Florida State really struggled to slow down Demon Deacons WR Sage Surratt, who made seven receptions for 170 yards.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: UNDER 59.5
I’m not really all that excited about either of these ACC Atlantic rivals against the spread here in Week 9, as I’m not seeing a ton of value with what appears to be a pretty efficient line. However, I do think that the UNDER on 59.5 total points scored is very interesting, especially when considering the fact that Syracuse has scored just 30 points combined over their last two games. Florida State has also been unable to get anything going on offense in recent weeks, putting up just 34 points combined over the same two week span.

The Seminoles have really been involved in a lot of low-scoring matchups lately, as the total has gone UNDER in four out of their last five games overall. The UNDER has also hit in five out of their last six meetings with an opponent from the Atlantic Coast conference. On the other side, the UNDER has come through in four out of Syracuse’s last five games overall and in four out of their last six meetings with ACC rivals. I’m going to pass on both teams against the spread in this particular spot and take the UNDER on 59.5 total points scored instead.
