Giants vs Broncos Betting Preview & Vegas Game Odds
Things have gone from bad to worse for the Giants. New York is currently 0-5, and on top of that, the team was inundated with injuries last week, including the loss of Odell Beckham Jr. for the rest of the season. The Giants have also suspended starting cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, adding another key player to the list of those who won’t be in uniform against the Broncos.
Meanwhile, the Broncos will come back from their bye week feeling good about their 3-1 record. Denver has wins over the Chargers, Cowboys, and Raiders this year, putting them in a good position in the AFC West if not for the still-undefeated Chiefs. Of course, after their date with the Giants, the Broncos have three straight road games, so they can’t afford to slip up against a winless team.
Free NFL Pick Against the Spread: Giants +11.5
I like the Broncos to win this game, but this line is out of control. New York’s last three losses are by a combined 10 points, so they are not as bad as their record indicates. Also, two of Denver’s three wins were one-possession games. The Broncos are not the type of team to blowout their opponents, so they’ll win but they won’t cover 11.5 points.
Offensively, the Broncos aren’t taking a lot of chances down the field with Trevor Siemian. Obviously, Denver has the receivers in Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders to take chances down the field. But those two have combined for just two touchdowns this season. Instead, the Broncos are focused on running the ball, which can make it harder to pull away from teams and win by double digits.

The Broncos are all about long, sustained drives more so than quick strikes. That’s part of the reason why they didn’t blow out the Chargers or Raiders despite dominating those teams. Turnovers are the other reason why the Broncos haven’t been better at putting teams away. It’s also the reason why they aren’t undefeated Siemian has thrown four interceptions in four games, and another turnover or two on Sunday could help keep the Giants in the game.
On the other side of the ball, the Giants are lacking several key playmakers due to injury. However, they still have Eli Manning, who can still make some plays, even if he doesn’t have his top receivers at his disposal. Also, the Giants have also shown modest improvement running the ball over the last couple of weeks, which should help them control the clock and shorten the game against the Broncos.
Ultimately, Denver’s secondary against a weakened group of receivers and Denver’s pass rush against a suspect offensive line will make this a tough game for the Giants to win. But they’ll play with desperation and urgency, which will help. Between that and Denver’s preference to run the ball instead of throwing deep, the Broncos will struggle to beat an 11.5-point spread.
