Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, Navy opened as a 7.5-point road favorite earlier this week. The spread has increased by a full point after early betting, as the Midshipmen are currently available at -8.5. The total for the game is sitting at 58.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Houston vs Navy
Navy has now won eight out of their first ten games after beating SMU 35-28 at home last weekend to improve to 8-2 on the season overall. The Midshipmen trailed 21-10 but took control of the game over the final two quarters, outscoring the Mustangs 25-7. QB Malcolm Perry went 9/15 for 162 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while also racking up 195 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Ryan Mitchell led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in three catches for 48 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Navy generated almost 550 total yards and found the end zone four times on offense in the win.
The Mids had an average outing on the other side of the ball against SMU, giving up just under 350 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Navy got burned a couple times downfield by Mustangs WR Rashee Rice, as he racked up 76 receiving yards and a touchdown on just three catches.
Houston snapped a three game losing slide last weekend, outscoring Tulsa 24-14 on the road to improve to 4-7 on the season overall. The Cougars scored 14 unanswered points in the second quarter to take the lead and never looked back, cruising to a double-digit victory down the stretch. QB Clayton Tune went 8/12 for 89 passing yards through the air while also adding 52 rushing yards and a score on the ground as well. Kyle Porter chipped in, making three receptions for 34 yards. As a whole, Houston gained over 200 total yards and scored one touchdown on offense.
The Cougars were pretty solid defensively against Tulsa, surrendering just two touchdowns despite allowing more than 400 total yards of offense. Houston was especially strong defending against the run, holding the Golden Hurricane to negative net rushing yardage on the ground.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 58.5
I’m really not seeing a ton of value with either side against the spread in this American West battle, as the number currently looks pretty efficient to me. While I do think that Navy should win this game outright, I’m not that crazy about laying almost ten points against a Cougars squad that has covered the number in three out of their last four meetings with the Mids overall. My favorite play in this particular spot is definitely the OVER on 58.5 total points scored, as both offenses should be able to find some success on Saturday evening. Houston has really struggled on defense as of late, giving up at least 44 points in two out of their last three outings. That could spell trouble for the Cougars in this matchup, as Navy has scored at least 35 points in three out of their last four games.

These two American West rivals have been involved in plenty of high scoring battles together in recent years, as the total has gone OVER in three out of their last four meetings. The OVER has also come through in two out of Houston’s last three conference games as well. On the other side, the OVER has hit in six out of Navy’s last eight games overall. I’m going to avoid throwing darts against a tough spread in favor of the OVER on 58.5 total points scored in what should be a fast-paced, highly entertaining matchup here in Week 14.
