Indiana vs Michigan State Vegas Betting Line & Game Preview
The Hoosiers lost a heartbreaker in overtime to Michigan last week to fall back to .500 on the season. Their 3-3 record is somewhat misleading, as all three of the losses came against FBS powerhouses (Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan). QB Peyton Ramsey has looked solid while completing 62.3% of his passes for 800+ yards and seven touchdowns. He has fantastic chemistry with both Simmie Cobbs Jr. and Ian Thomas, as the duo has combined for 669 yards receiving and caught 6/7 of Ramsey’s touchdown passes. On the other side of the ball, Indiana has played fairly well defensively. Despite playing half of their games against top 25 rank opponents, the Hoosiers are ranked 39th overall in Total Defense. They are currently giving up an average of just 353.0 yards per game to opponents.
Michigan State heads into this match-up with Indiana in search of their fourth straight win. The Spartans barely squeaked past Minnesota last weekend after a statement win on the road against Michigan at the beginning of October. QB Brian Lewerke has already eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark and thrown for nine touchdowns. Darrell Stewart Jr. and Felton Davis III lead the way for the receiving corps, as the duo has combined for 537 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Michigan State has looked strong on defense, giving up an average of 263.8 yards per game which is #5 overall nationwide. The Spartans are also allowing opponents to score an average of just 18.2 points per game (18th overall).
Free NCAAF Betting Prediction: Michigan State -7
Everything seems to be shaping up nicely for the Spartans this weekend. They get to play at home against an opponent that is coming off an extremely emotional loss in their last outing. I always like to fade teams immediately following a gut-wrenching result, and that is certainly the case with Indiana in this particular spot. I fully expect Michigan State to win by double digits at home on Saturday afternoon.

The Hoosiers have also struggled recently against conference opponents, going 0-3-1 ATS over their last four games. They are also 0-6 ATS in their last six meetings with Michigan State. On the other hand, the Spartans are a very impressive 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games. Indiana also had a seven game losing streak against Michigan State until last year when they beat the Spartans 24-21 in OT. The Hoosiers haven’t beaten Michigan State in consecutive years since the early 1990’s, and I don’t like their chances to end that streak this weekend.
Michigan State is simply the far superior team in this match-up, especially defensively. The Spartans have been one of the top teams in the entire country all season long. Peyton Ramsey, while certainly adequate, doesn’t really seem fully-equipped to solve such a prolific defense, especially while playing on the road. Look for Michigan State to put on a show for the home crowd on their way to reclaiming the Old Brass Spittoon.
