Jaguars vs Colts Vegas Odds & Game Preview

Indianapolis won their fifth straight game last weekend to finally get back above the .500 mark after a disastrous 1-5 start. While their 27-24 home victory over Miami in Week 12 certainly wasn’t a dominating performance by any means, the Colts offense did have a solid game through the air. QB Andrew Luck was fantastic, throwing for 343 yards and three touchdowns. Luck has now passed for 3,112 yards and 32 touchdowns in just eleven games and is a big reason why Indy has really started to turn things around. WR T.Y. Hilton also had a big game, racking up 100+ yards receiving for the second straight week. On the ground, RB Marlon Mack looked well on his way to another 100-yard rushing performance before being forced to leave in the second half due to a concussion. His status for Sunday is still questionable, although he was able to practice on a limited basis throughout the week. As a whole, Indianapolis is currently averaging 29.5 points per game (4th overall) on 388.2 yards of total offense.

The Colts have been pretty mediocre defensively through their first eleven games, giving up an average of 24.8 points per game (18th overall) on 360.3 yards of total offense. They have looked well below average against the pass, allowing 253.9 yards per game through the air (20th overall).

Jacksonville lost their seventh straight game last weekend, falling 24-21 on the road to Bufalo to drop to 3-8 overall after a decent 3-1 start to the year. The Jaguars continue to struggle on offense, as QB Blake Bortles passed for just 127 yards and a touchdown against the Bills while also getting picked off twice. The coaching staff has already announced that backup Cody Kessler will get the start here in Week 13, so it will be interesting to see how he performs against a below average Indianapolis secondary. RB Leonard Fournette turned in a solid 95 yard, two touchdown performance in Week 12 but was ejected in the second half after an altercation with Buffalo DE Shaq Lawson. It was announced early this week that he has been suspended for one game after throwing several punches during the incident, so Carlos Hyde and T.J. Yeldon will split carries out of the backfield on Sunday. Overall, Jacksonville is averaging just 17.9 points per game (28th overall) on 346.5 total yards of offense.

The Jaguars have been above average on the other side of the ball so far this season, surrendering only 22.1 points per game to opponents (8th overall) on 320.2 yards of total offense. They are extremely solid against the pass, giving up an average of just 205.6 yards per game through the air (3rd overall).

Free NFL Betting Prediction: Indianapolis -3.5

I am absolutely stunned that the Colts are just 3.5 point favorites in this matchup. These two teams are polar opposites of each other right now, as Indianapolis has won five straight while Jacksonville hasn’t won a game since September. Andrew Luck and the rest of this high-flying Indianapolis are really firing on all-cylinders right now, scoring at least 34 points in four out of their last six games. The Jaguars are an absolute mess on offense and have now turned to backup Cody Kessler, who certainly doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence.

Indianapolis is a rock-solid 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 road games against teams with a losing home record. They are also 32-13-1 ATS over their last 46 games against opponents with a losing record and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Jacksonville is a brutal 1-3-1 ATS in their last five home games and 0-5-2 ATS over their last seven games overall.

The Jaguars have also been terrible in divisional games as of late, as they are just 0-3-1 ATS in their last four meetings against the AFC South. I really don’t see that trend reversing here in Week 13, especially with Fournette on the sidelines and Kessler leading the offense. Luck and Co. should steamroll on the road in this matchup, so I’m happy to lay the 3.5 points – give me the Colts.
