Jaguars vs Jets Game Odds & Betting Preview
New York Jets
The Jets have now lost five out of their first six games this season after falling 33-0 against New England on Monday Night Football in Week 7. New York was terrible on both sides of the ball, giving up four touchdowns while also getting shut out on offense as well. QB Sam Darnold went viral for “seeing ghosts out there” after throwing a career-high four interceptions in a single game. RB Le’Veon Bell averaged 4.7 yards per carry but he was pretty much the only offensive player to turn in even a respectable performance against the rock-solid Pats defense. As a whole, the Jets barely gained over 150 total yards en route to an embarrassing home loss against a division rival.
New York was brutal defensively against the Patriots, giving up well over 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. The Jets had no answer for New England RB Sony Michel on the ground, as he found the end zone three times despite rushing for only 42 yards on a game-high 19 carries.
The Jaguars snapped a two game losing slide last weekend, beating Cincinnati 27-17 on the road to improve to 3-4 on the season overall. Jacksonville trailed by a single point at the half but were dominant over the final two quarters, outscoring the Bengals 21-10 en route to a double-digit victory. QB Gardner Minshew went 15/32 for 255 yards and a touchdown while RB Leonard Fournette racked up 131 rushing yards on a game-high 29 carries. Dede Westbrook led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in six catches for 103 yards. Overall, the Jaguars offense generated well over 450 total yards and scored one touchdown against a bad Bengals defense.
Jacksonville had a decent outing on the other side of the ball in Week 7, holding Cincinnati to just over 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The Jaguars were especially solid defending against the pass, as they recorded a season-high three interceptions in the win.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: UNDER 41.5
This is shaping up to be one of the ugliest games on the entire schedule here in Week 8, as both of these two teams have been underwhelming to say the least so far this season. While Jacksonville is at least within striking distance of the .500 mark, the Jets have really struggled on both sides of the ball pretty much all year. Even though I’m leaning towards the Jags winning outright, there is no way I feel comfortable laying almost a full touchdown in this particular spot either. However, I do think that the UNDER on 41.5 total points scored offers decent value, especially since neither offense has scored more than 27 points in a single game this year.

It is also important to note that the total has gone UNDER in five out of New York’s last seven games overall. The UNDER has also come through in four out of their last five meetings with an opponent from the AFC. On the other side, the UNDER has hit in six out of Jacksonville’s last seven home games. I’m going to avoid throwing darts against the spread in this matchup, as the number looks pretty efficient to me overall. I’ll roll with the UNDER on 41.5 total points scored in what should be a defense-first battle on Sunday afternoon.
