Jaguars vs Buccaneers Game Odds & Betting Preview

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Buccaneers have now won two out of their last three games after beating Atlanta 35-22 on the road last weekend to improve to 4-7 overall. Tampa Bay had a 19-10 lead at the half and cruised to victory from there, tacking on 16 more points over the final two quarters en route to a double-digit win. QB Jameis Winston went 18/28 for 313 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air but also got picked off twice as well. RB Ronald Jones II led the way on the ground, rushing for 51 yards and a score on a team-high 12 carries. Chris Godwin absolutely torched the Falcons secondary, hauling in seven receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Overall, the Buccaneers gained almost 450 total yards and found the end zone four times on offense.

Tampa Bay was average defensively against the Falcons, surrendering close to 400 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The Buccaneers struggled to slow down Atlanta WR Calvin Ridley, allowing him to rack up six catches for 85 yards and a touchdown.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars lost their third straight game last weekend, falling 42-20 on the road against Tennessee to drop to 4-7 on the season overall. Jacksonville gave up four touchdowns in the third quarter and never recovered, coming up over three touchdowns short as time expired. QB Nick Foles went 32/48 for 272 passing yards through the air while RB Leonard Fournette rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 24 carries. Dede Westbrook led the way for the receiving corps, making eight catches for 69 yards. As a whole, the Jaguars generated almost 400 total yards of offense and scored two touchdowns in the loss.

Jacksonville had a brutal outing on the other side of the ball against the Titans, getting lit up for almost 500 total yards of offense and six touchdowns. The Jaguars had no answer for Tennessee RB Derrick Henry on the ground, as he exploded for 159 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: OVER 47.5

Although I am leaning slightly towards laying the 2.5 points and rolling with the Buccaneers against the spread, it’s tough to feel all that great about that play after the line has already moved that direction by over a full point. With not as much value remaining against the spread, I’d rather take my chances with the OVER on 47.5 total points scored in a battle between two struggling defenses. Jacksonville has now given up 75 total points over just their last two games combined while Tampa Bay has surrendered 123 total points in their last four outings combined. The Buccaneers offense has been firing on all cylinders as of late too, putting up at least 30 points in three out of their last four games.

These two teams have also had plenty of high scoring battles together in recent history, as the total has now gone OVER in each of their last three meetings. The OVER has also come through in five out of Tampa Bay’s last six outings on the road and in nine out of their last ten games overall as well. On the other side, the OVER has hit in two out of the last three occasions that Jacksonville welcomed the Bucs to TIAA Bank Field. Even though I don’t hate Tampa Bay against the spread, I’ll avoid chasing the public in favor of the OVER on 47.5 total points scored.
