The New York Jets are set to host the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football in Week 13. Kickoff is set for 8:30 EST at MetLife Stadium and will be televised on NBC. Oddsmakers have the Colts as a 1.5-point favorite with the total set at 48.5 points.

Colts vs Jets Vegas Betting Preview

Indianapolis (5-6) lost 7-28 at home to the Steelers on Thanksgiving night last time out. Not a surprising result, given the Colts were without starting quarterback Andrew Luck. The good news for Indy is the Texans lost at home on Sunday to the Chargers. The Colts are just 1-game back of Houston, who will is at Green Bay this week. Decent chance they will be playing to move into a 3-way tie for 1st in the AFC South.

New York (3-8) suffered a heartbreaking 17-22 loss at home to the Patriots in Week 12. The Jets were unable to hold on to a 17-13 edge with less than 10 minutes to play in the 4th quarter. While it came in a losing effort, it was one of New York’s better efforts this season. The big question is how will this team stay motivated down the stretch when not facing a division rival.

Free Pick & Spread Predictions: Jets +1.5

My early lean here is on New York as a home dog. The Jets have been a major disappointment this season. After going 10-6 a year ago, they looked like a legit playoff contender. A rash of injuries, poor quarterback play and a brutal schedule has them out of contention. The public is going to be all over the Colts, who are perceived to be the only team with something to play for here.

While the Jets are out of the playoff picture, I don’t expect them to just lay down and let the Colts win this game. Especially with this game being at home on Monday Night Football. I expect New York to play their hearts out in this one. Keep in mind they have something to prove in this game. The Jets were embarrassed on MNF earlier this season, losing 3-28 at Arizona. A game where they totaled just 230 yards and 11 first downs.

What is also getting overlooked here is this Colts teams is far from an elite team. Sure they went into Green Bay and beat the Packers a few weeks back. However, the Packers were decimated with injuries at that time.

It’s also important to remember that Indy was as healthy as they have been all season when they beat the Packers. The injury bug has once again hit this team. One area where they are really hurting is on the offensive line. Starting center Ryan Kelly and tackle Denzelle Good both left their last game. Each is listed as questionable and there’s a good chance both don’t play.

That’s a major problem for the Colts, who have had a miserable time protecting their QB’s. Even more so when factoring in the talent the Jets have up front on the defensive line. New York should be able to live in the Colts backfield. That’s going to make it hard for Indy to get anything going offensively.

As for the Jets offense, the Colts are definitely a defense they can have success against. Indy ranks 23rd against the run (116.3 ypg) and 30th against the pass (278.7 ypg). It’s also worth pointing out NY is expected to get a key piece back on the offensive line. Starting center, Nick Mangold is probable after missing the last 4 games.

This is also historically a great spot to back New York. The Jets are 19-5 ATS in their last 24 home games off a home loss. It’s also the time of year when they tend to cover a lot of spreads. The Jets are 10-1-2 ATS in their last 13 games in the month of December.
