Jets vs Dolphins Game Odds & Betting Preview

Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins have now won three out of their last five games after stunning Philadelphia 37-31 at home last weekend to improve to 3-9 on the season overall. Miami trailed 21-14 at the half but managed to pull off an impressive comeback over the final two quarters of the game, outscoring the Eagles 23-10 down the stretch. QB Ryan Fitzpatrick went 27/39 for 365 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while RB Patrick Laird found the end zone on the ground. DeVante Parker torched the Eagles secondary, exploding for 159 receiving yards and two touchdowns on seven catches. Overall, the Dolphins gained over 400 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns in the upset victory.

Miami wasn’t that great defensively against the Eagles, giving up over 400 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. The Dolphins had no answer for Philadelphia WR Alshon Jeffery, allowing him to rack up nine receptions for 137 yards and a touchdown in his first game back from injury.

New York Jets

The Jets had their three game winning streak come to an end last weekend, falling 22-6 on the road against previously winless Cincinnati. New York trailed 17-6 at the half and never recovered, getting completely shutout offensively over the final 30 minutes of the game. QB Sam Darnold went 28/48 for 239 passing yards through the air while RB Le’Veon Bell averaged just 3.2 yards per carry on the ground. Robby Anderson led the way for the receiving corps, hauling in seven catches for 101 yards. As a whole, the Jets generated just over 300 total yards of offense but failed to find the end zone in the defeat.

New York had an average outing on the other side of the ball against the Bengals, surrendering close to 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The Jets did a great job slowing down Cincinnati on the ground, yielding only 44 net rushing yards the entire game.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Dolphins +5.5

This is actually a pretty tough spot, as both the spread and the total look pretty bang on to me. I’m currently leaning just slightly towards taking the 5.5 points and rolling with the road underdog, as Miami has really improved over the past month or so. While I do agree that the Jets should be favored at home in this AFC East battle, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the Dolphins found a way to win this game outright – especially after they won their first game of the year against this same New York squad back in early November. Miami has also looked pretty solid offensively lately as well, racking up a total of 81 total points over just their last three games.

The Dolphins have also dominated the Jets against the spread over their last several meetings, going a perfect 3-0 ATS since 2018. Miami is also a very impressive 6-2 against the spread over their last eight games overall as well. On the other side, New York is just 1-4 against the spread in their last five battles with AFC opponents. The Jets are also a brutal 1-5-1 ATS over their last seven games against Miami overall. While I certainly wouldn’t argue against fading this matchup altogether, I’ll take my chances with the surging Dolphins and the 5.5 points – give me Miami to cover!
