Jets vs Raiders Game Odds & Betting Preview

Oakland Raiders

The Raiders won their third straight game last weekend, beating Cincinnati 17-10 at home to improve to 6-4 on the season overall. Oakland gave up an early touchdown but dominated both sides of the ball over the final three quarters of the game, outscoring the Bengals 17-3. QB Derek Carr went 25/29 for 292 passing yards and a touchdown through the air while RB Josh Jacobs raced up 112 rushing yards on a game-high 23 carries on the ground. Tyrell Williams also chipped in, hauling in four catches for 82 yards. As a whole, the Raiders generated over 400 total yards of offense and found the end zone twice in the victory.

Oakland was fantastic defensively against the Bengals, giving up just a single touchdown despite allowing close to 300 total yards of offense. The Raiders were especially strong defending against the pass, allowing only 115 yards through the air while also forcing an interception.

New York Jets

The Jets improved to 3-7 on the season overall last weekend, crushing Washington 34-17 on the road for their second win in a row. New York had a 20-3 lead at the half and never looked back, tacking on two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter to lock up the victory. QB Sam Darnold played well, going 19/30 for 293 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air. RB Le’Veon Bell was a workhorse on the ground, rushing for 59 yards and a score on a team-high 18 carries. TE Ryan Griffin led the way for the receiving corps, exploding for 109 yards and a touchdown on five catches. Overall, the Jets gained well over 400 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns against a shell-shocked Redskins defense.

New York had a pretty solid outing on the other side of the ball in Week 11, surrendering well under 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The Jets completely shut down Washington on the ground, holding the Redskins to just 54 net rushing yards.

Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: Raiders -3

A pretty convincing case can be made for avoiding this spot altogether, as both the spread and the total look pretty bang on to me for the most part. If forced to pick a side, I’m probably leaning just slightly towards Oakland on the road here in Week 12, as they have definitely been the more consistent team so far this season. While Sam Darnold looks to have addressed his turnover issues over the past couple of weeks, I’m still not sold that his 3+ touchdown outings against both the Giants and Redskins are a sign of things to come. While he appears to have yet another good matchup against a below average Raiders secondary on Sunday afternoon, Le’Veon Bell could have trouble finding a lot of running room against a tough rush defense.

Oakland has really fared well against the spread over the past two months or so, going a rock-solid 5-2 ATS in their last seven games overall. The Raiders have also dominated this all-AFC matchup in recent years, as they are a perfect 3-0 against the spread over their last three meetings with the Jets. On the other side, New York is a brutal 4-8 ATS over their last 12 games overall. They are also only 1-6 against the spread in their last seven meetings with an AFC opponent and just 2-9 ATS against AFC West teams. I’m going to lay the field goal and take a shot with the slight road favorite – give me Oakland to cover!
