Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, Kansas State opened as a 3.5-point home underdog earlier this week. The spread has increased by over a full point after early betting, as the Wildcats are currently available at +5. The total for the game is sitting at 46 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Kansas State vs Iowa State
Iowa State won their second game in a row last weekend, beating Kansas 41-31 at home to improve to 7-4 on the season overall. The Cyclones trailed by a field goal at the start of the fourth quarter but took complete control of the game down the stretch, outscoring the Jayhawks 20-7 en route to a double-digit victory. QB Brock Purdy played well, going 29/42 for 372 passing yards and four touchdowns through the air while also finding the end zone on the ground despite rushing for only nine yards. Breece Hall also chipped in, rushing for 97 yards and a score on a team-high 28 carries. La’Michael Pettway also got in on the scoring parade, hitting pay dirt twice on two of his six catches for 96 receiving yards. Overall, Iowa State gained just under 500 total yards of offense and scored six touchdowns against a shell-shocked Jayhawks defense.
The Cyclones didn’t have a great outing on the other side of the ball against Kansas, surrendering almost 500 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Iowa State had no answer for Jayhawks RB Pooka Williams Jr. on the ground, allowing him to rush for 154 yards on a team-high 19 carries.
Kansas State snapped a two game losing slide last weekend after a hard-fought 30-27 road victory over Texas Tech. The Wildcats had a 6-3 lead at the half and managed to hold on for the victory over the final two quarters of the game by putting up 24 points in just 30 minutes. QB Skylar Thompson wasn’t at his best, throwing an interception and going just 14/28 for 246 passing yards and two touchdowns. James Gilbert led the way on the ground, rushing for 61 yards on 12 carries. Chabastin Taylor contributed with some big plays downfield, racking up 74 yards and a touchdown on only three receptions. As a whole, Kansas State generated over 350 total yards and found the end zone twice on offense in the win.
The Wildcats struggled at times defensively against Texas Tech, giving up over 500 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. Kansas State struggled to contain Red Raiders WR RJ Turner, as he torched the secondary for 141 yards and a touchdown on seven catches.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 46
I’m not really seeing a ton of value on either side against the spread in this BIG 12 clash, as the current number looks pretty efficient to me. While I am somewhat tempted by the five points after early betting moved Kansas State from +3.5 to +5, it’s tough to back a Wildcats squad that is just 2-4 against the spread through their first six home games. Therefore, my favorite play in this particular spot is the OVER on 46 total points scored, as both offense have put up at least three touchdowns in four out of their last five games. Iowa State has definitely been firing on all cylinders offensively as of late, scoring 105 total points in just their last three outings combined.

These two BIG 12 rivals have also been involved in plenty of high scoring games together in recent history, as the total has now gone OVER in four out of their last five meetings. Fans were treated to a highly entertaining shootout when Kansas State and Iowa State met in 2018, as both offenses combined for a very impressive 80 total points despite the fact that the over-under was set at just 41.0 before kickoff. I’m going to avoid throwing darts against a tough spread in favor of the OVER on 46 total points scored on Saturday evening in what should be a very competitive matchup.
