The Virginia Cavaliers (5-2) travel to Kentucky this weekend for an all-ACC clash with the Louisville Cardinals (4-3). Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST on October 26th at Cardinal Stadium and the game will be broadcast on the ACC Network.

Taking a look at the Week 9 college football odds, Virginia opened as a 3.5-point road favorite earlier this week. The spread hasn’t moved at all after early betting, as the Cavaliers are currently listed at -3.5. The total for the game is sitting at 52 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Louisville vs Virginia

Virginia snapped a two game losing slide last weekend, crushing Duke 48-14 at home to move to 5-2 on the season overall. The Cavaliers scored 14 unanswered points in the second quarter and never looked back, outscoring the Blue Devils 31-14 in the second half en route to a blowout victory. QB Bryce Perkins went 13/26 for 141 yards through the air while also adding 62 rushing yards and three touchdowns on a team-high 22 carries on the ground. RB Wayne Tualapapa also had a big game, finding the end zone twice on two of his 14 carries for 77 yards. As a whole, Virginia generated over 300 total yards of offense and scored five rushing touchdowns in the double-digit win.

The Cavaliers had a decent outing on the other side of the ball against Duke, surrendering well under 250 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. Virginia did a great job defending against the run, holding the Blue Devils to just 132 net rushing yards and no touchdowns on the ground.

Louisville saw their modest two game winning streak come to an end last weekend, losing 45-10 at home against #4 overall Clemson to drop to 4-3 on the season overall. The Cardinals were badly outplayed on both sides of the ball, scoring just a single field goal until the fourth quarter while also allowing 24 points over the first 45 minutes of the game. Malik Cunningham and Evan Conley both struggled through the air, as they went a combined 8/22 for 107 passing yards while also each throwing an interception. RB Javian Hawkins was the only bright spot on offense, rumbling for 129 yards and a touchdown on a game-high 26 carries. Overall, Louisville gained just over 250 total yards and scored only one touchdown against a rock-solid Tigers defense.

The Cardinals were very poor defensively against Clemson, giving up six touchdowns and over 550 total yards of offense. Louisville had no answer for Tigers RB Travis Etienne on the ground, as he exploded for 192 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 14 carries.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Virginia -3.5

I think that the Cavaliers currently offer a ton of value in this ACC matchup, as they should find a way to win this game by at least four points on Saturday afternoon despite playing on the road. Louisville has really struggled defensively as of late, giving up at least 39 points in three straight games. While the Cardinals are a pretty dangerous team offensively, I just don’t have enough faith in their defense to slow down a Virginia offense that has scored at least 30 points four times already this year – including a 48 point outburst against Duke last weekend.

The Cavaliers have also owned this matchup as of late, going a very impressive 4-1 against the spread over the last five meetings between these two ACC opponents. Virginia is also 4-1 ATS in their last five games in the month of October. On the other side, Louisville is a brutal 5-15 against the spread in their last 20 games overall. They are also only 1-9 ATS over their last 10 games against teams from the Atlantic Coast conference. I’ll happily lay the 3.5 points and take the road favorite in this spot – give me the Cavs to cover this spread with relative ease!
