The #2 overall LSU Tigers (7-0) host the #9 overall Auburn Tigers (6-1) this weekend for a massive SEC West clash from Baton Rouge. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST on October 26th at Tiger Stadium and the game will be nationally televised on CBS.
Taking a look at the Week 9 college football odds, LSU opened as a 12.5-point home favorite earlier this week. That spread has moved down by two full points after early betting, as the Tigers are currently listed at -10.5. The total for the game is sitting at 58.5 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: LSU vs Auburn
Auburn bounced back in Week 8 after losing their first game of the season to Florida at the start of October, crushing Arkansas 51-10 on the road to improve to 6-1 overall. The Tigers scored 17 unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back, adding 34 more points in the second half en route to a lopsided victory. QB Bo Nix went 12/17 for 176 yards and three touchdowns through the air while also adding another score on the ground. Harold Joiner also found the end zone on one of his four carries for 59 yards. Seth Williams and Anthony Schwartz both had impressive outings as well, combining for 163 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Overall, Auburn generated almost 500 total yards of offense and scored seven touchdowns against a shell-shocked Razorbacks defense.
The Tigers had a very solid outing on the other side of the ball against Arkansas, giving up just over 200 total yards of offense and only one touchdown. Auburn was especially impressive defending against the run, surrendering only 52 net rushing yards all game long.
LSU won their seventh consecutive game last weekend, beating Mississippi State 36-13 to move to 7-0 on the season overall. The Tigers were up 22-7 at the half and came out flying in the third quarter, scoring 14 unanswered points en route to a double-digit victory. QB Joe Burrow went 25/32 for 327 yards and four touchdowns in what ended up being a fantastic showing by the passing offense. Four different receivers found the end zone, with Justin Jefferson and Racey McMath combining for over 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns. As a whole, LSU gained over 400 total yards of offense against the Bulldogs.
The Tigers were very solid defensively against MS State, giving up just over 300 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. LSU also forced two interceptions and held the Bulldogs to 102 rushing yards on the ground.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: LSU -10.5
This is shaping up to be one of the best matchups on the entire schedule here in Week 9, as these two SEC West rivals have gone a combined 13-1 through their first seven games of the season. While I’m expecting this game to stay pretty close for a couple of quarters, I think that LSU offers the best value against the spread – especially playing at home. Auburn has looked impressive this year but really struggled on the road against #7 overall Florida back in the first week of October, losing by double-digits. They have also really struggled at Tiger Stadium in recent years, going a dreadful 0-9 outright in their last nine visits.

LSU has really excelled against the spread as of late, going 5-1-1 ATS over their last seven games. They are also a rock-solid 13-3-1 against the spread over their last 17 games against SEC opponents. On the other side, Auburn has only three wins in their last 12 meetings with LSU overall. As long as the spread stays below 11 points in this matchup, I think LSU is the optimal play. I’ll lay the 10.5 points and roll with the double-digit home favorite in this extremely important SEC West showdown.
