The #4 overall Michigan Wolverines (10-1) travel to Columbus on Saturday to battle the #10 overall Ohio State Buckeyes (10-1) for a spot in the Big 10 Championship.  Kickoff is set for 12:00 PM EST at Ohio Stadium and the game will be broadcast on FOX.

Taking a look at the Week 13 college football odds, Michigan opened as a 3.5-point road favorite earlier this week. That line has shifted by half a point after early betting, as the Wolverines are currently listed at -4. The total for the game is sitting at 58.5 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Ohio State vs Michigan

Michigan improved to 10-1 on the season last weekend after a 31-20 home victory over Indiana. It certainly wasn’t the Wolverines best game of the season, as they only won by 11 points despite being favored by almost four touchdowns. There is no doubt that they had to be at least at least semi-distracted by the prospect of meeting the Buckeyes here in Week 13, as Michigan has dropped six consecutive games – and nine of their last ten meetings – to their Ohio State. QB Shea Patterson has played pretty well so far this season, throwing for 2,177 yards and 18 touchdowns in 11 games. He has certainly been on a roll as of late, racking up 510 yards and four touchdowns over his last two starts. Patterson has really clicked with the dynamic receiving duo of Donovan Peoples-Jones and Zach Gentry this year, as they have racked up a combined 952 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. RB Karan Higdon has been an absolute beast on the ground, rushing for 1,106 yards and ten touchdowns. As a whole, Michigan is currently averaging 36.6 points per game (24th overall).

Things have also looked quite solid on the other side of the ball for the Wolverines this season, as they have limited opponents to just 13.5 points per game (4th overall). Michigan has been especially dominant against the pass, giving up only 123.2 yards per game through the air – the lowest average per game in the entire country.

Ohio State also improved to 10-1 overall last weekend, barely escaping with a 52-51 overtime victory over a desperate Maryland team. The Buckeyes trailed by 14 points in the second half before mounting a late comeback to force extra time. The Terps had a second chance to pull off the massive upset in overtime but couldn’t find a way to score on a game-deciding two point conversion. Ohio State still has a slim chance of making the College Football Playoff, but they will need to knock off Michigan here in Week 13 to have any shot. QB Dwayne Haskins has been electric all season long, passing for 3,685 yards and 36 touchdowns in just 11 games. He has really been riding a ton of momentum as of late, throwing three or more touchdown passes in seven out of his last eleven starts. RB J.K. Dobbins has also had a solid year, rushing for 915 yards and eight touchdowns. Overall, Ohio State is averaging 41.6 points per game (8th overall).

The Buckeyes haven’t looked quite as impressive on the other side of the ball, as they are giving up an average of 24.6 points per game (52nd overall). They have struggled at times with defending against the pass, giving up an average of 237.4 yards per game through the air (77th overall).

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: Michigan -4

This is easily the most anticipated game of the entire college football season – and for good reason. These two teams have one of the best rivalries in all of sports, and this latest installment of “The Game” is unlikely to disappoint. The winner will get a spot in the Big 10 Title game, while also getting the inside track on a spot in the College Football Playoff spot. I know that Ohio State has dominated the Wolverines over the past several years, but I’m fully expecting a much different outcome this season. There is little doubt that Michigan has been the more consistent team, as the Buckeyes should have probably lost to Maryland in Week 12 and got blown out by Purdue at the end of October. While the Wolverines are scoring about five points less per game offensively, they are also giving up about 11 fewer points per game. With the spread currently sitting at four points, the actual six point differential between these two teams makes me lean heavily towards Michigan in this spot.

Ohio State is just 1-4 ATS over their last five games against teams with a winning record. They are also only 1-6 ATS in their last seven conference games and 1-6 ATS over their last seven games overall. Michigan is a rock-solid 4-0 ATS over their last four games against opponents with a winning record. They are also 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 games following an against the spread loss.

Michigan has kicked it into another gear this season, winning ten consecutive games after a tough loss in Week 1. They haven’t let teams hang around either, as each of their last six wins has been by double-digits. While Ohio State will be their toughest test yet, I’m backing the Wolverines in this matchup. I’ll lay the four points and take the road favorite to cover the spread while successfully locking up a spot in the College Football Playoff.
