The Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-3) host the Indiana Hoosiers (5-2) this weekend for a BIG 10 battle from Lincoln. Kickoff is set for 3:30 PM EST on October 26th at Memorial Stadium and the game will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

Taking a look at the Week 9 college football odds, Nebraska opened as a 1-point home favorite earlier this week. That spread has moved by a full point after early betting, as the Cornhuskers are currently listed at -2. The total for the game is sitting at 53.5 points.

Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Nebraska vs Indiana

Indiana has now won three out of their last four games after a solid 34-28 road victory over Maryland last weekend. The Hoosiers held a 24-21 lead at the half and managed to hold on down the stretch, outscoring the Terps 10-7 over the final two quarters. QB Peyton Ramsey went 20/27 for 193 yards and a touchdown through the air while also adding eight carries for 46 yards on the ground. RB Stevie Scott had a monster game, rushing for 108 yards and two touchdowns on a team-high 18 carries. The receiving duo of Peyton Hendershot and Nick Westbrook chipped in as well, combining for 170 yards and a touchdown on 12 catches. Overall, Indiana generated over 500 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the win.

The Hoosiers had a below average outing on the other side of the ball against Maryland, giving up almost 400 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Indiana really struggled to slow down Terps RB Javon Leake, as he exploded for 158 yards and two touchdowns on a game-high 23 carries.

Nebraska couldn’t find a way to get past #17 overall Minnesota on the road last weekend, falling 34-7 to drop to 4-3 on the season overall. The Cornhuskers gave up 14 unanswered points in the first half and never recovered, as the offense failed to score a single point until the fourth quarter when the game was basically already over. QB Noah Vedral went 14/23 for 135 yards through the air while also leading the way on the ground, rushing for 49 yards on a team-high 15 carries. J.D. Spielman recorded 59 receiving yards on just three catches, while RB Dedrick Mills scored the only touchdown of the game for Nebraska. As a whole, the offense gained over 300 total yards of offense but scored just seven points against a very tough Golden Gophers defense.

The Cornhuskers were fairly poor defensively against Minnesota, surrendering over 400 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. Nebraska had no answer for Rodney Smith on the ground, as he torched the defense for 139 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries.

NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: OVER 53.5

I’m not all that interested in either side against the spread in this BIG 10 matchup here in Week 9, as both teams could easily win this game outright. While I usually side with the home team in these close spots, I am a bit concerned that Nebraska is a dreadful 1-6 against the spread so far this season. Therefore, I would probably lean toward taking Indiana and the two points despite the fact they are on the road. Still, I think that the best value in this game might actually be the OVER on 53.5 total points, as both defenses haven’t been at their best lately. Nebraska has given up at least 34 points in three out of their last four games overall while Indiana has allowed their opponents to average over 24 points per game so far this year.

It is also worth noting that the total has gone OVER in both of Indiana’s two road games this season. The OVER has also come through in four out of their last five outings away from Indiana University Memorial Stadium and in eight out of their last eleven meetings with an opponent from the BIG 10 conference. Ultimately, I think taking Indiana against the spread and the OVER on 53.5 total points scored are both pretty solid plays from what should be a very entertaining matchup on Saturday afternoon.
