The UNLV Rebels (3-8) head to Reno this weekend for a Mountain West battle with the Nevada Wolf Pack (7-4). Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM EST on November 30th at Mackay Stadium and the game will be broadcast on AT&T Sportsnet.
Taking a look at the Week 14 college football odds, Nevada opened as a 7.5-point home favorite earlier this week. The spread has come down by half a point after early betting, as the Wolf Pack are currently available at -7. The total for the game is sitting at 52 points.
Vegas Betting Preview & Game Odds: Nevada vs UNLV
UNLV snapped their four game losing skid last weekend, beating San Jose State 38-35 at home to improve to 3-8 on the season overall. The Rebels jumped out to a 21-6 lead in the first half and managed to hold on down the stretch despite getting outscored 29-17 over the final 30 minutes of the game. QB Kenyon Oblad went 21/36 for 203 passing yards and two touchdowns through the air but also got picked off once as well. RB Charles Williams torched the Spartans on the ground, rushing for 186 yards and three touchdowns on a game-high 27 carries. Randal Grimes also chipped in, racking up six receptions for 130 yards and a touchdown. Overall, UNLV generated over 450 total yards of offense and found the end zone five times in the victory.
The Rebels didn’t have a great outing on the other side of the ball against San Jose State, surrendering over 550 total yards of offense and five touchdowns. UNLV had no answer for Spartans WR Tre Walker, as he exploded for 133 yards and a touchdown on a game-high 12 catches.
Nevada won their third straight game last weekend, beating Fresno State 35-28 on the road to improve to 7-4 on the season overall. The Wolf Pack trailed 21-14 at the half but dominated both sides of the ball over the final two quarters, outscoring the Bulldogs 21-7 down the stretch. QB Carson Strong went 20/31 for 154 passing yards and three touchdowns through the air while RB Toa Taua racked up 135 rushing yards and a touchdown on a team-high 20 carries. Elijah Cooks also found the end zone, hitting pay dirt on one of his five catches for 60 yards. As a whole, Nevada gained over 400 total yards of offense and scored five touchdowns in the win.
The Wolf Pack were average at best defensively against Fresno State, giving up almost 350 total yards of offense and four touchdowns. Nevada had some difficulty trying to contain Bulldogs WR Ronnie Rivers, allowing him to make seven catches for 88 yards and a touchdown.
NCAA Football Betting Predictions & Free Pick: UNDER 52
While I also don’t mind laying the touchdown and rolling with the Wolf Pack at home here in Week 14, my favorite play in this particular spot is the UNDER on 52 total points scored. Nevada hasn’t really fared all that well at Mackay Stadium against the spread so far this year, going just 1-2-1 ATS through their first four home games. The Rebels have also struggled against the spread, as they have failed to cover the number in two consecutive road outings against Mountain West opponents. Despite successful outings on offense last weekend for both schools, neither team has scored more than three touchdowns in four out of their last five games.

It is also important to note that these two Mountain West rivals have been involved in plenty of defensive battles together in recent years, as the total has now gone UNDER in two out of their last three meetings. The total has also gone UNDER in five out of UNLV’s last seven games overall and in eight out of their last nine games against Nevada on the road. On the other side, the UNDER has come through in four out of Nevada’s last five games overall as well. I’m going to take a shot with the UNDER on 52 total points scored in what should be a slower-paced matchup.
