49ers vs Panthers Game Odds & Betting Preview
The Panthers won their fourth straight game their last time out, beating Tampa Bay 37-26 on the road to improve to 4-2 on the season overall. Carolina scored ten unanswered points in the first quarter and never looked back, tacking on three more touchdowns en route to a double-digit victory. QB Kyle Allen went 20/32 for 227 yards and two touchdowns through the air while RB Christian McCaffrey chipped in with two touchdowns despite gaining only 57 all-purpose yards. WR Curtis Samuel had a multi-touchdown game as well, finding the end zone on his only rushing attempt of the game and racking up four catches for 70 yards and a score to lead the way for the receiving corps. As a whole, Carolina gained almost 300 total yards of offense and scored four touchdowns in the divisional win.
Carolina was fairly average defensively against the Buccaneers, giving up well over 400 total yards of offense and three touchdowns. However, the Panthers did do a great job putting pressure on Tampa Bay QB Jameis Winston, forcing him to throw a career-high five interceptions.
San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers won their sixth consecutive game last weekend, slipping by Washington 9-0 on the road to improve to a perfect 6-0 on the season overall. San Francisco didn’t get on the board until the third quarter but held on down the stretch, tacking on six more points over the final 15 minutes of the game. QB Jimmy Garoppolo wasn’t at his best, going only 12/21 for 151 passing yards and also getting picked off once. RB Tevin Coleman led the way on the ground, rushing for 62 yards on a team-high 20 carries. Overall, the 49ers generated almost 300 total yards of offense despite failing to find the end zone.
San Francisco had a fantastic outing on the other side of the ball in Week 7, completely shutting out the Redskins offense and surrendering only 181 total yards of offense. The 49ers were especially tough against the pass, holding Washington to only 77 yards through the air.
Free NFL Betting Predictions and Pick: UNDER 41.5
This is shaping up to be one of the best games on the schedule here in Week 8, as these two NFC rivals have gone a combined 10-2 overall through the first seven weeks of the season. While I do think that San Francisco should find a way to win this game outright, I’m not that crazy about the prospect of having to lay five points. The 49ers only managed to score nine total points last weekend against a below average Redskins defense, so they will certainly be tested at home on Sunday afternoon against a Panthers team that has given up 20 points or less in three games this year already.

It is also important to note that the total has gone UNDER in two out of the last three meetings between these two teams. The UNDER has also hit in five of San Francisco’s last six games overall and in four out of their last five matchups with an AFC opponent. I think this game should stay extremely close throughout, so to avoid throwing darts against what looks to be a pretty efficient spread, I’ll roll with the UNDER on 41.5 total points scored instead.
